Founder of 24/7 Worship Center, Mike Bickle, Faces Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Mike Bickle, the individual who established the International House of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City, Kansas, is currently the subject of extensive scrutiny due to multiple allegations of sexual misconduct spanning several decades.

Bickle’s church has gained recognition for sustaining uninterrupted prayer and worship for approximately 15 years, with millions of global viewers watching its livestreamed praise music.

Additionally, he played a leadership role within the Kansas City Prophets, where he introduced prophetic messages and imagery to Christians, including those in the United Kingdom.

These allegations have come to the forefront through a statement authored by three former members of the Kansas City IHOP, actively participating in the disciplinary proceedings against Bickle. Their statement states: “A few days ago, we made the leadership team of the International House of Prayer in Kansas City (IHOPKC) aware of serious allegations spanning several decades concerning its founder, Mike Bickle. Without going into details to protect the privacy of the victims’ identities, we have found these allegations of clergy sexual abuse by Mike Bickle to be credible and long-standing. The credibility of these allegations is not based on any one experience or any one victim, but on the collective and corroborating testimony of the experiences of several victims.”

While not specifying the exact nature of the allegations, the statement reveals that they were “sexual in nature” and involved incidents where “the marriage covenant was not honored.” The statement suggests that Mike Bickle may have used his spiritual authority over the victims to manipulate them.

The statement urges IHOP community members to avoid speculating about the victims’ identities and stresses that these individuals are women who have always been viewed as credible, trustworthy, and courageous. It also notes that there are no ulterior motives behind the reports, stating, “None of these victims had any intention to punish Mike Bickle, and they had nothing to gain by sharing their experiences except the pursuit of truth, repentance, mercy, and grace.”

Following the disclosure of these allegations, executive leaders Isaac Bennett, David Sliker, and Stuart Graves addressed the Forerunner Church community. They assured those present that IHOP had systems in place to support those affected by the allegations and to provide pastoral care. They also encouraged questions but emphasized that some answers might be delayed until the appropriate time. The leaders declined to comment on the nature of the allegations, explaining that “careful, deliberate, slow answers can feel like secrecy,” and they aim to address the issue “at the right time with the right information” since “the allegations can run faster than clarity.”

Former IHOPKC leader Dean Briggs, who had resigned from the leadership team a month ago, expressed his dissatisfaction with the level of transparency. He stood up during the announcement and exclaimed, “I do not consider this an acceptable level of transparency,” adding an expletive to emphasize his discontent. Another audience member shouted, “I second that.”

Briggs continued to voice his concerns, stating, “There is more to be shared… and I believe that you need to address this in a different way with a right degree of transparency or this is not going to be a trustworthy process.” Witnesses reported that Briggs subsequently left the gathering.

It’s important to note that Mike Bickle has denied the allegations and even preached on the issue of false allegations just last week. The situation continues to evolve, and further details may emerge in the future.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

- We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?

If you are not a Christian, and would like to become a Christian. Simply say - "LORD Jesus, thank you for forgiving me of my SINs, today I am deciding to follow you. Accept me into your family, in Jesus name I pray. Amen "
