Christian Ghanaian Footballer Found Dead Two Weeks After Turkey Earthquake

In a tragic incident, former Newcastle United footballer Christian Atsu has been found dead in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey earlier in February.

Atsu, who was a devout churchgoer, was visiting the country on a humanitarian mission when the earthquake struck.

Atsu had been in Turkey as part of a delegation from his church, which was providing aid to refugees who had fled conflict in neighboring countries. According to reports, Atsu was staying in a hotel in the city of Izmir when the earthquake hit, and was unable to escape the building before it collapsed.

Nana Sechere, Atsu’s agent confirmed his death through a post on Twitter which reads; “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce to all well wishers that sadly Christian Atsu’s body was recovered this morning

My deepest condolences go to his family and loved ones. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their prayers and support”. This he posted on the 18th of February, 2023. Another post reads; “May you stand with all the angels as you are now in the presence of Gods eternal care. Take care my brother, until I see you again.”

The news of Atsu’s death has been met with shock and sadness in the football community. Atsu, who was 30 years old, had a successful career as a footballer, playing for clubs such as Porto, Everton, and Newcastle United. He was known for his skill and pace on the pitch, as well as his charitable work off it.

Newcastle United, Atsu’s former club, released a statement expressing their condolences to his family and friends. “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our former player, Christian Atsu. He was a talented player and a wonderful human being, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.”

Rescue teams are working around the clock to search for survivors, but the death toll continues to rise. Atsu’s death is a tragic reminder of the toll that natural disasters can take, and a loss that will be felt by many in the football community and beyond.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

- We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?

If you are not a Christian, and would like to become a Christian. Simply say - "LORD Jesus, thank you for forgiving me of my SINs, today I am deciding to follow you. Accept me into your family, in Jesus name I pray. Amen "
