In a surprising turn of events, Disney star Joshua Bassett was baptized at Bethel on Sunday after publicly declaring his faith in Jesus Christ.
The news of his baptism quickly spread on social media, with many fans expressing their excitement and support for the young actor.
Bassett, who is best known for his role in the Disney+ series “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” had been open about his spiritual journey in recent interviews and social media posts. He had spoken about his struggles with anxiety and depression, and how his faith had helped him through those difficult times.
On Sunday, Bassett was baptized in front of a small at Bethel, a popular church in Redding, California known for its charismatic worship style and focus on spiritual revival. The church posted a photo of the baptism on its official Twitter account, along with a message congratulating Bassett on his decision to follow Christ. “Today, we had the honor of baptizing Joshua Bassett in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Congratulations on your decision to follow Jesus, Joshua! We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see all that God has in store for your life. #baptism #faith #JoshuaBassett”
The young Disney star had also taken to his social media pages where he shared a video of his confession of his faith in Christ.
“Hi, my name is Joshua,” he said as the video showed him standing on the stage at the church. “And long story short, I grew up Christian, and I ran the other way as far as I could go in pursuit of ‘truth,’ and that only ended in addiction, depression, suicidal ideation, eating disorders, etc.”
“And no other teacher gave me anywhere near the peace that Jesus Christ did. And I’m here to publicly declare him as my Lord and Savior,” Bassett added.
