Mike Johnson Elected U.S. House Speaker Amidst Support from Christian Leaders

Republican Representative Mike Johnson of Louisiana has secured the role of Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives following a protracted three-week internal struggle within the GOP.

In his inaugural address as the leader of the lower chamber of Congress, Johnson invoked his strong belief in divine providence, asserting that his ascension to the position was not a mere coincidence but a part of God’s grand plan.

Johnson eloquently stated, “I believe that God has ordained and allowed each one of us to be brought here for this specific moment and this time. This is my belief. I believe that each one of us has a huge responsibility today to use the gifts that God has given us to serve the extraordinary people of this great country, and they deserve it.”

According to a report by Christian Post, a number of influential Christian leaders have expressed their support and optimism in response to Johnson’s election as Speaker of the House, highlighting their strong backing for his leadership. Here are their responses:

Former Southern Baptist Convention President Ronnie Floyd

Floyd commended Johnson for his exceptional qualities as a constitutional scholar, compassionate leader, and dedicated follower of Jesus Christ. He conveyed his belief that Johnson’s ascent to this role is a part of God’s divine plan.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins

Perkins, a prominent conservative Christian activist, emphasized his enduring friendship with Johnson and perceived his election as a response to their collective prayers. He expected Johnson to be a Speaker who prioritizes American interests and leads with both spiritual insight and political courage.

Pastor Samuel Rodriguez, President of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference

Rodriguez likened Johnson’s journey to that of the biblical figure David, noting that he emerged as a leader despite not being the initial choice. He saw in Johnson the potential to unify disparate factions within the Republican party and champion a pro-faith, pro-family, and pro-free enterprise agenda.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

- We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?

If you are not a Christian, and would like to become a Christian. Simply say - "LORD Jesus, thank you for forgiving me of my SINs, today I am deciding to follow you. Accept me into your family, in Jesus name I pray. Amen "
