Pop sensation Lizzo is facing legal trouble as three of her former dancers have filed a lawsuit against her and her management team, alleging a “hostile working environment.”

The complaint, filed in Los Angeles earlier this week, accuses the Grammy-winning artist of ‘fat-shaming’ and creating an atmosphere where dancers were subjected to uncomfortable situations.

In a report by Premier Christian News, the dancers’ lawyer, Ron Zambrano, issued a statement expressing his shock at the stark contrast between Lizzo’s public persona and her alleged treatment of her team. He said, “The stunning nature of how Lizzo and her management team treated their performers seems to go against everything Lizzo stands for publicly, while privately she weight-shames her dancers and demeans them in ways that are not only illegal but absolutely demoralizing.”

Among the disturbing allegations is the claim that Lizzo’s dance captain, Shirlene Quigley, forced Christianity onto the dancers. According to the lawsuit, the dancers were coerced into attending prayer sessions and, in some cases, actively participating, despite it not being an official requirement for the team. The complaint notes, “While it was not an official requirement for team members to participate in these prayers, it became clear that engagement was compulsory.”

Furthermore, the lawsuit alleges that Quigley relentlessly imposed her Christian faith on the dancers, repeatedly proselytizing even after being asked to stop. When confronted about her behavior, it is claimed that Quigley defiantly responded, “No job and no one will stop me from talking about the Lord.”

Although Lizzo was raised in a church, it is not believed that she currently practices an active faith. The allegations of religious discrimination are not directly aimed at her, but she is accused of turning a blind eye to the behavior and allowing it to persist within her team.

As of now, neither Lizzo nor Shirlene Quigley have officially responded to the serious allegations made against them. The lawsuit, however, raises questions about the accountability and responsibility of artists in ensuring a safe and respectful working environment for their collaborators.

In a statement by the dancer on Twitter, she expressed that she has always been passionate about what she does. She added that she takes her music and performances seriously by doing what best represents her and her fans.

The news of the lawsuit has shocked fans and industry insiders alike. Lizzo, known for promoting body positivity and self-acceptance through her music and public persona, now faces scrutiny over the alleged mistreatment of her own dancers. This stark contrast has led many to wonder whether the allegations could have a significant impact on her career and reputation.

The lawsuit has also sparked discussions within the entertainment industry about the broader issue of power dynamics and misconduct behind the scenes. It serves as a reminder that artists and their teams should be held accountable for their actions and attitudes, even when they may not align with the image they present to the public.
