Chris Pratt, the popular US actor known for his roles in blockbuster movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, has opened up about how he deals with criticism related to his outspoken Christian faith.
In an interview with Page Six, Pratt revealed that he takes inspiration from a Bible verse when dealing with the backlash that often comes with discussing his religious beliefs in public.
“If I was of this world, they would love me just like that but as it is, I’ve chosen out of this world. That’s John 15:18 through 20,” Pratt said, referencing a verse from the New Testament of the Bible. “That’s the way it is, nothing new, 2,000 years ago they hated him, too,” he added, referring to Jesus Christ.
The verse in question reads: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also.”
Pratt’s comments come after years of criticism and scrutiny over his religious beliefs. In 2019, he faced backlash after being accused of attending a church that was anti-LGBTQ. He later clarified his position, saying that the church does not define him. “My faith is important to me but no church defines me or my life,” he said.
Despite this, Pratt has continued to face criticism from some quarters over his faith, with some accusing him of using it as a way to promote conservative political views. In his interview with Page Six, however, he said that he doesn’t let the criticism get to him. Pratt also spoke about the importance of respecting others’ beliefs, even if they differ from his own.
Pratt’s comments offer a glimpse into how he navigates the often-complicated intersection of faith and fame. While he has faced his fair share of criticism and scrutiny over his religious beliefs, he remains committed to living his life in accordance with his values and encouraging others to do the same.Chris Pratt, the popular US actor known for his roles in blockbuster movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, has opened up about how he deals with criticism related to his outspoken Christian faith.
