Singer Amy Grant Shares Her Journey of Faith, Beliefs, and Recovery in New Interview

In a recent interview on the podcast No Small Endeavor, the celebrated singer Amy Grant opened up about her faith, her views on the Bible, and her marriage to fellow musician Vince Gill.

This heartwarming conversation revealed the singer’s perspective on life, gratitude, and her remarkable recovery from a bicycle accident last summer.

Grant expressed her profound gratitude for each new day, stating, “I start every morning with thank-you, thank-you. I’m so thankful to wake up — just to wake up.” This newfound appreciation for life follows a series of health challenges she faced in recent years, including open-heart surgery in 2021 and a bicycle accident that led to a hospital stay.

Her latest album, “Lead Me On Live 1989,” is set to release on October 6, featuring 18 tracks recorded during her 1988-89 tour in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Grant emphasized the significance of her daily quiet time, which provides her with perspective and a sense of tranquility. She explained, “Every morning, I say thank you, and I love getting a cup of coffee, and I go outside. And if I can, I put my feet on the grass and connect with the beauty of the earth.”

Grant shared that she reads a chapter of the Gospels daily and finds fascination in the life of Jesus. However, she admitted to struggling with certain parts of the Bible, particularly the Old Testament, due to the involvement of people in its stories. She humorously remarked, “I have a love-hate relationship with a lot of the history in the Old Testament. It’s hard for me to trust anything that involves people. Because I know that I’m a mess.”

In the interview, Grant candidly discussed some of Jesus’ teachings that challenge her, particularly the subject of divorce. She and Vince Gill both have experienced second marriages, which made her question Jesus’s words on the matter. She expressed her inner conflict, saying, “People are so ugly to each other. Why did you say divorce?” However, she emphasized her daily need for guidance and prayer, stating, “Clearly, we all need help.”

Reflecting on a difficult period in her life during the late 1990s, Grant shared a personal encounter with renowned evangelist Billy Graham. At a time when her first marriage was falling apart, she felt compelled to inform Graham about her struggles. Graham responded with empathy, reassuring her with a message of understanding and acceptance.

Years later, in 2005, Grant and Gill visited Graham backstage at his final crusade, where he warmly greeted them, leaving a lasting impression on Grant. She spoke affectionately about her husband, Vince Gill, noting that he accepts her as she is and exemplifies unconditional love, making her feel closer to God.

Despite the divisions in American culture, Amy Grant finds solace in the words of John 3:16, which reminds her of the profound love of God for all. She shared, “For God so loved all of us. … Part of my mind every day goes to that.”

In this heartfelt interview, Amy Grant’s journey of faith, her candid exploration of the Bible, and her enduring love for Vince Gill serve as a source of inspiration and reflection for her fans and listeners. Her story is a testament to the power of gratitude, resilience, and faith in navigating life’s challenges.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

- We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?

If you are not a Christian, and would like to become a Christian. Simply say - "LORD Jesus, thank you for forgiving me of my SINs, today I am deciding to follow you. Accept me into your family, in Jesus name I pray. Amen "
