Contemporary Christian artist, Steven Curtis Chapman, has emerged as the first to have 50 songs on the top charts in his musical genre.
His song, “Don’t Lose Heart” has pushed the modern-day Christian artist to make history, as it became his 50th piece to top radio hits. “Don’t Lose Heart” was part of his album titled “Still” which was released in 2022. The song expressed the grief his family had gone through, when his 5-year-old daughter, Maria, died in an accident in their driveway.
In a statement, Chapman said; “I’m completely blown away by the support for this song and for my music, even after so many years.” “To ever have a number one song at radio as an artist/songwriter is a dream come true, and to have fifty is simply unbelievable! This only happens because of an amazing team and a community of friends around me who have believed in the unbelievable. I’m grateful and humbled beyond words.”
The contemporary gospel artist released a new version of his single, “Don’t Lose Heart” in February, where he featured the country singer, Mitchell Tenpenny.
Country singer Tenpenny had taken to his Twitter handle, where he posted about the victory of the gospel artist. The caption on his post read, “My brother @StevenCurtis just got his 50th number 1 this week…. I grew up listening to you SCC & I’m honored that you would let me sing on this version with you. First time hearing myself on Christian radio! Y’all go listen to #DontLoseHeart @KLOVERadio”
