Ten-Year-Old Boy Who Loved Reading Bible Tragically Passed Away in River Incident

The heart-wrenching loss of ten-year-old Shadrack Appiah has left his family and community in shock and mourning.

Shadrack tragically lost his life in an unfortunate incident in the Kennet River at Waterloo Meadows earlier this week.

The incident unfolded on a fateful Monday afternoon when young Shadrack Appiah found himself in distress while in the waters of the Kennet River. Despite the swift response of emergency services who valiantly attempted a rescue operation, Shadrack’s life could not be saved. The incident has cast a pall of sadness over the community as they come to terms with the untimely departure of a vibrant young soul.

Shadrack’s family, devastated by the sudden loss, remember him as a pious and introspective young boy who found solace in his Christian faith. He was known to frequently immerse himself in the pages of the Bible, drawing wisdom and comfort from its teachings. His devotion to his faith was a cornerstone of his character, shaping his perspective on life even at such a tender age.

In addition to his spiritual inclinations, Shadrack harbored dreams of becoming a pilot when he grew up. His aspiration soared beyond the skies, reflecting his unbound enthusiasm and ambition. Football held a special place in his heart, mirroring his zest for life’s pleasures and his vibrant spirit.

Shadrack’s love extended to his family, particularly his sisters Natalie and Nicole. The siblings shared a bond that was evident to everyone around them. Their affection for one another illuminated their household, making Shadrack’s absence even more profound. A family statement released after the tragedy reads, “He loved his sisters Natalie and Nicole and they loved him. We will all miss him very much.” These words capture the essence of the connection Shadrack had with his family.

Detective Inspector Hayley Burns, representing Thames Valley Police, expressed the collective grief of the law enforcement community. “This is an absolute tragedy in which a young boy has died after getting into difficulty in the water,” she conveyed. The authorities are treating Shadrack’s demise as unexplained but not suspicious, allowing the family the space to navigate their grief without undue speculation.

The family is currently being provided with necessary support during this distressing and traumatic period. Det. Insp. Burns shared her condolences, stating, “My thoughts, and the thoughts of all of us at Thames Valley Police are with Shadrack’s family and his friends, and we would ask that their privacy is respected.”

The tragic incident has once again brought attention to water safety and the need for continued vigilance, especially during the summer months when people are more likely to engage in water-related activities.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

- We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?

If you are not a Christian, and would like to become a Christian. Simply say - "LORD Jesus, thank you for forgiving me of my SINs, today I am deciding to follow you. Accept me into your family, in Jesus name I pray. Amen "
