When did the 2023 Asbury Revival Start?

The Asbury revival commenced on Wednesday, 8th February 2023 on Asbury campus in Kentucky. It all began after a regular chapel meeting when a small group of people stayed behind to continue their prayers. It has since then been an outpour of the Holy Spirit.

Asbury University is a small Christian college known for its regular religious activity, and as of the time of writing this report, it has been 12 whole days of prayers and spiritual outpouring on the campus. Since the commencement of the revival, a lot of people from across the world who desire to seek the face of the Lord have joined the powerful program, as it has also spread to three other universities across the states.

As the revival’s concluding public worship service holds today Monday, 20th February 2023, the university seats and parking spaces exceeded their capacity, that provisions had to be made for streaming a limited portion of the service.

The Asbury University President, Dr. Kelvin J. Brown, in an article on the college website, wrote, “They have not stopped and, moreover, have been joined far and wide by hungry men and women across the world who desire to seek the Lord in this space. Since the first day, there have been countless expressions and demonstrations of radical humility, compassion, confession, consecration, and surrender unto the Lord. We are witnessing the Fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”

Tracing it Back to 1970

In the spring of 1970, a similar spiritual awakening swept through the campus of Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, leading to one of the most significant revivals in modern Christian history. The Asbury Revival, as it came to be known, drew thousands of people from across the country to witness the power of God at work in the lives of students, faculty, and staff. The revival began on February 3, 1970, when a group of students gathered in Hughes Auditorium for a chapel service. After the service, a few students began to pray aloud, and the Spirit of God fell on the room.

What followed was an outpouring of God’s presence and power that lasted for weeks.

News of the Asbury Revival had spread quickly, with reports appearing in newspapers and on radio and television programs across the country. Thousands of people made their way to Asbury College to witness the revival for themselves, and many were deeply impacted by what they saw. The Asbury Revival of 1970 was regarded as one of the most significant revivals in modern Christian history, and it has had a lasting impact on the world.

Asbury University Revival in 2023

Fast forward to now in February 2023, the spirit of revival has once again swept through Asbury University. Over the past few weeks, reports have emerged on social media of students experiencing a deep sense of God’s presence and power on campus.

Faculty and staff at the university have also been caught up in the excitement of the revival. The students and staff alike are excited about what God has done at Asbury University. It’s a reminder that, no matter what year it is, the power of God to transform lives and renew communities is still at work in the world.

Is Asbury Revival Ending?

Asbury university management has scheduled the end of revival programs as the revival is to end on Wednesday night. It has been decided that the revival be moved to a place in the central Kentucky area where the public can attend to avoid disruption of school regular activity. Whereas, the high-school and college students are to attend the program live on the campus through to Thursday.

The transfer of the public to a different location is also based on the heavy park space congestion that has been experienced during the course of the revival.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

- We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?

If you are not a Christian, and would like to become a Christian. Simply say - "LORD Jesus, thank you for forgiving me of my SINs, today I am deciding to follow you. Accept me into your family, in Jesus name I pray. Amen "
