Web Application Portal to Introduce Black Churches to Pastoral Candidates

A Web Application is on a Mission to Introduce Black Churches to Pastoral Candidates. Rev. John W. Woodall Jr., the Founder and president of PastorsForBlackChurches.com, is excited to launch his new web application. The purpose of the app is to introduce pastoral candidates to African American churches who are presently or soon will seek a new pastor. This innovative application will satisfy a great need for Black congregations.

There are many reasons churches find themselves in need of a new pastor. Sometimes, the presiding pastor retires after a long term of service to the local assembly. According to Lifeway Research, which describes pastors as resilient, “about 250 pastors are known to leave the ministry each month.” In other cases, misunderstandings and misuse are a factor for vacancy. In addition, the untimely passing of a beloved pastor can leave the flock in dismay. On the other end of the spectrum, there are many well-qualified, gifted men of the cloth seeking to pastor an ecclesia of their own.

PastorsForBlackChurches.com app will endeavor to bring the two entities together. Please note the design of this app does not target only pastors of color. Rev. Woodall encourages all pastors to visit the app and set up an account, knowing that Black churches embody a distinct atmosphere that is manifested in their worship.

In Black churches, the search for a new pastor can be a daunting journey filled with mixed emotions. They usually form a pastoral search committee to take on this task. According to Rev. Woodall, “There tends to be a dearth of counsel, guidance, and education, specifically with regards to how the pastoral search should be performed. Consequently, the pastoral search process in many churches tends to be more of an employment process than the spiritual journey for which it is intended.” As a result, this process can extend for years, and the congregation goes lacking.

The PastorsForBlackChurches app will facilitate from both sides of the coin to create a union, which is God-centered, and Spirit-filled in its outcome. To complement the PastorForBlackChurches app, Reverend Woodall has created a ten-lesson online course, “A Biblical Guide to the Work of the Pastoral Search Committee” as a free introduction to churches who welcome his services.

Rev. Woodall is the Senior Pastor of South Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is a graduate of the Ball State University (Bachelors of Science), the Ball State University Graduate School of Business (Master of Business Administration), and the Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis (Doctor of Jurisprudence).

“We are taking this flight over for Jesus!” says the description on the video Jensz posted to TikTok. Tears Shed and Hearts Warmed at Youth for Christ Miami’s “Be the Story” event

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic on April 2nd and 3rd, Miami Youth for Christ’s Executive Director Tia Diaz-Balart opened the doors once again to the organization’s dedicated donors, corporate sponsors and special guests for a stellar presentation to bring hope to 2,000 underserved youth in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties who are mentored through 32 weekly programs at 19 different sites.

The “star” of the event were transformed teens, who bravely shared heart-wrenching stories of isolation, abandonment, suicidal thoughts and hopelessness, until one of the four programs of Youth for Christ caught their attention through on-campus clubs, after-school programs, juvenile justice and Catalyst(hip hop) programs. Five outstanding teenagers shared stories of their journey, capturing the heart of the audience whose applause and support was a balm to their spirits.

As guests dined, videos of Youth for Christ’s mission were shown on three large screens, with pictures of downtown Miami and local neighborhoods highlighting the images.

Master of Ceremonies Joab Dumornay, head of the North Miami City Life KIX program, excited the audience with his Haitian humor and wit, while Miami Youth for Christ Board Chairwoman Althea Harris brought a remarkable tone to the meeting with her impassioned and heartfelt prayers for our teenagers, asking for Mas, in keeping with the year-long theme of “More” (mas in Spanish).

“I am filled with such joy,” said Mrs. Diaz-Balart, “as I see the powerful ways God is working through Youth for Christ in serving our community’s lost youth. There is truly no greater reward than seeing a teen go from despair to elation because of the care and inspiration our outstanding team and volunteers continually pour into them.”

Since 1948, Youth for Christ Miami has been providing free educational and outreach programs that are inclusive and accessible to all children and youth throughout Miami-Dade County. Through its programs, Youth for Christ seeks to provide an environment for positive youth development, thereby enabling these students to reach their full potential in life. There are four programs under the umbrella of Youth for Christ: Campus Life, Catalyst Hip Hop, Juvenile Justice Outreach, and City Life KIX. It is also an avid supporter of two sister organizations: Haiti and Ft. Lauderdale Youth for Christ, serving hundreds of youth in those areas. Youth for Christ programs effectively engage children and youth of all ages and all social, religious, cultural, and economic backgrounds.

Navy Seal Commander, Grant Mann To Speak At Annual Luncheon Of The Salvation Army Of Palm Beach County

The Salvation Army of Palm Beach County is honored to announce retired U.S. Navy Commander Grant Mann as keynote speaker for their 2022 Annual Luncheon to be held from 11:30AM-1PM at the Pelican Club on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. Entitled “The Ties That Bind,” the luncheon aims at gathering local charities and nonprofits around the theme of philanthropic partnerships.

Commander Mann was born in Toronto, Canada, and raised in Vero Beach, Florida. Upon his enlistment in 1986, Mann immediately reported to Boot Camp and was subsequently assigned to the USS Harry W. Hill. After two years on board, he was selected and attended Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL Training Class 162, graduating in October 1989. His operational overseas deployments were in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm, Bosnia, Philippines, Iraq, Afghanistan, and East Africa. Commander Mann’s enlisted operational assignments include two tours as a Boatswain Mate, two deployments at SEAL Team FIVE, and seven years at SEAL Team SIX. He is the recipient of a Bronze Star Medal and numerous other awards over his 34 years of service.

“We are honored that Commander Mann has accepted the invitation to be the featured speaker at our Annual Luncheon,” said Majors James and Leisa Hall, Area Commanders of The Salvation Army. “Since The Salvation Army of Palm Beach County is celebrating its Centennial Anniversary, we wanted to select a speaker that would inspire an afternoon gathering of local nonprofit leaders to more effectively collaborate for the greater good of our community. As a courageous member of two SEAL Teams, we cannot imagine a more appropriate individual than Commander Mann to speak on the value of partnerships!”

Commander Mann presently serves as the Executive Director of the National Navy SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce, Florida, dedicated solely to preserving the history of the U.S. Navy SEALs and their predecessors. From humble beginnings in 1985, the facility has experienced tremendous growth, achieving national stature in 2007. The main objective of the Museum remains the promotion of public education by providing the opportunity to explore the history of the Navy SEALs through interactive exhibits, while honoring the fallen at the SEAL Memorial and caring for those warriors’ families through Trident House Charities.

New Birth Announces Bishop T.D. Jakes, John P. Kee for Good Friday Service; VaShawn Mitchell for Resurrection Sunday

New Birth Missionary Baptist Church Announces Bishop T.D. Jakes, Award-Winning Gospel Artist John P. Kee for Good Friday Service; Gospel Recording Artist VaShawn Mitchell for Resurrection Sunday

‘The Return’ Marks New Birth’s First In-Person Worship Since the Covid-19 Pandemic

After two years of virtual worship services due to the Covid-19 pandemic, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church is reopening its doors on Good Friday, April 15 at 7:30 p.m. with internationally renowned faith leader and best-selling author Bishop T.D. Jakes and award-winning gospel artist John P. Kee. New Birth’s reopening activities, called ‘The Return’, will culminate on Resurrection Sunday, April 17, with Senior Pastor Dr. Jamal Bryant and celebrated gospel artist VaShawn Mitchell beginning at 9:30 a.m. All planned events will take place at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, located at 6400 Woodrow Rd in Stonecrest.

“We are beyond thrilled to return to in-person worship services, to re-engage with our congregation and to welcome visitors who are thirsty for an extraordinary encounter with the Lord,” said Dr. Bryant. “Bishop T.D. Jakes is a global force and one of the most prolific voices in ministry. We are truly blessed to have him join us for our Good Friday service with the legendary John P. Kee. We are equally excited that gospel sensation VaShawn Mitchell will join us as our guest psalmist on Resurrection Sunday.”

Throughout the pandemic, New Birth has advanced innovative ways to engage members and enhance its online ministry as well as its outreach activities. The King’s Table, New Birth’s food pantry, was launched just two months before the pandemic and served 300 people each month. With the financial impacts that accompanied the global crisis, The King’s Table saw those numbers skyrocket to more than 3,000 people weekly at the height of the pandemic and is quickly approaching a major milestone – 1 million people served during the pandemic.

The Return by New Birth on The Christian Mail

Similarly, the Stonecrest ministry’s online viewership exploded and welcomed parishioners near and far. “Shifting to an online worship experience really forced us to recalibrate our approach to ministry and rethink our outreach methodology. Honestly, the challenge now is getting people out of their pj’s and eating their pancakes while streaming ser

vice on Sunday morning,” said Bryant. “Resurrection Sunday will mark my first time preaching with all of our members in the sanctuary in more than two years during my three years at New Birth.”

During the weekend events, The King’s Table will also host its weekly free food distribution on Saturday, April 16, at 10 a.m. on the church’s campus. All distributed items are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. “What better way to punctuate Resurrection Sunday than to advance the work of the Lord through giving to those in need,” Bryant said.

New Birth initially planned to welcome parishioners in-person on New Year’s Eve but a spike in Covid-19 cases prevented the reopening effort. Now, with a statewide decline in Covid-19 cases and a rise in Covid-19 vaccinations, the church’s leadership identified Easter weekend as a perfect opportunity to welcome members and visitors back into the 9,000-seat sanctuary.

“We are encouraging people to come as they are and enjoy a weekend of fellowship and worship here at New Birth. No need to worry about fancy clothes or shoes this or any Sunday,” said Bryant. “Just plan to be amazed by God’s presence as we return into the house of the Lord.”
