After undergoing surgery for his medial meniscus tear on his right knee – the same knee that took him from the NBA for more than two years – Derrick Rose could possibly return by the end of the season.

Christian Post Report – According to a report by ESPN, Rose told reporters that there is a clear chance that he would be able to play for the Chicago Bulls by the time the playoffs kick off.

“I think so, that’s the plan,” Rose said in the interview. “Whenever I feel right, that’s when I’m going to step back.”

Unfortunately for Chicago fans, Rose did not show or expressed any certainty that he would indeed come back for the season to salvage the slipping Bulls team.

“Yeah, but the way that I’m feeling right now, it’s a good chance that I’ll come back,” he said.

Rose has been one of the better storylines for Chicago this year. This NBA season is the first time since the 2011-12 season that Rose played more than 40 games (currently 46).

The resurgence of Jimmy Butler as a reliable second option and the addition of Pau Gasol have also made the Bulls offense even more formidable this year.

However, Rose’s injury came as a huge blow to coach Tom Thibodeau’s team, who has been eyeing a top-seed finish after the All-Star Break.

Since the Bulls lost Rose due to the injury, Chicago has won two straight games – both in thrilling fashions. Unfortunately, the team has strung three straight losses.

It might be possible for Rose to return in time for the playoffs, but if the Bulls land on the fifth or sixth spot, it may be difficult for them to grind their way against quality teams.
