The cast of 2014’s young-adult adventure movie “The Maze Runner”
Christian Post Report – The first official image snippets for the highly anticipated young adult movie “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials,” are finally here and it offers a great deal of information as to what fans should expect when the sequel to the 2014 blockbuster offering “Maze Runner” hits the theatre this September 2015.
Based from the second book titled “The Scorch Trials” by James Dashner will see the return of Kaya Scodelario as Teresa and Dylan O’Brien as Thomas.
According to reports, the forthcoming title will pick up the story right after Thomas and the rest of the survivors escaped from The Glade to the outside world which, as they realized, appears to be more dangerous than the walled place they were first found.
Director Wes Ball unraveled the major setting for The Scorch Trials, which will find an earth devastated by solar flares.
“[The massive solar flare that devastated the planet] has transformed the world into a desert with sand dunes that crawl and are swallowing the ruins of a lost world,” he told Entertainment Weekly.
Ball went on to specify that the maze survivors will encounter creatures called “Cranks.” The helmer explained that Cranks are not literally zombies but they do “fit into that category.”
“They’re not undead, but they are rage-filled,” he went on to clarify.
Among the slew of images in the report features some of the characters hanged upside down. Another picture shows Thomas holding something which he probably uses to ward off the perpetrators.
For those acquainted with the book series, they might expect for The Scorch Trials to feature the mysterious company called W.C.K.D., which the survivors will investigate.
“Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” opens in cinemas Sept. 18, 2015.
