We gathered from a Nigerian press house – PUNCH Newspaper (which is now confirmed) that President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the Executive Secretary of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, Mr. Jim Obazee, and ordered the reconstitution of the FRC board.
The decision comes two days after Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God stepped down as the General Overseer of RCCG Nigeria based on a law by the council, sparking outrage among members of the church.
Pastor Adeboye made the announcement at the church’s annual ministers’ thanksgiving held at the Redemption Camp in the Shimawa area of Ogun State.
He cited a FRCN regulation, which stipulates mandatory office tenure for general overseers of all registered churches, as the reason for the restructuring.
The clergyman said the regulation would also be extended to other clergymen and leaders of other churches such as the Living Faith Church Worldwide International aka Winners Chapel; the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Cherubim and Seraphim Church and The Redeemed Evangelical Mission.
But recent news confirmed that the FRCN law was not intended to affect Churches and Mosques, but only NGOs.
A source confirmed that the country’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, said that “There is an issue with the new code of corporate governance and the minister wrote the Financial Reporting Council and told the council not to execute it because a lot of people from the private sector have complained about it.
However, some powers in government executed it, and set the law into force. The first effect was the resignation of Pastor Adeboye of RCCG, a highly respected clergyman in Nigeria, and since he’s resignation as leader of RCCG in Nigeria, there has been an uproar in the government which has led to the sacking of some government officials from their position.
Our thought is ” Is this a Shaking of the Church Leadership Structure in Nigeria”, is this shaking a move of God himself at work ?
What do you think ?
