Topic: Regardless Of The Situation [Sunday, 7th May 2017]
Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. Exodus 16:4
Over the years, we’ve heard of and even known people who sought God time and again over an issue or a circumstances in their life that they needed to be settled, and then got it. However, sometimes after the receipt of their answer, they stopped seeking God. It seems like they played a fast one on God, right? Now questions may run through our minds to the effect that since God is all-knowing, and He definitely knew that after the receipt of their answer they’d no longer seek Him, why did He still give them the answer?
The first answer is that God is merciful. Psalms 103:8 says “the Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.” Hebrews 8:12 says also “for I am merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.” So His mercies moves Him to compassion towards those in need.
Second is that they asked in faith, believing He will grant the answer to their situation – Matthew 21:22 says “and all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”
Third is to test and prove that even after the grant of their request they would still not walk after His ways. This was the case of the Israelites in Exodus 16, when they were hungry, and murmured against Moses, God told Moses in verse four that He would give them meat and bread to “prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or not”. And well, because their hearts were hardened (Hebrews 3:8), they very soon after faulted the laws of God. In Exodus 16:28 the Lord said “how long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?” Now this “prove” either stands for us or against us. Abraham was proved, and it was counted unto him for righteousness (Genesis 15:6). The children of Israel on the other hand, proved God and saw his works for forty years in the wilderness (Hebrews 3:9).
So search your heart today, would you still seek God when that issue goes away, or your desire of Him goes with the issue. Seeking Him wholeheartedly, in and out of difficult circumstances, is truly for our own good.
Keep winning daily.
Wise Action:
Ask yourself sincerely if that need you desire God to meet is gone, would you still seek God? If your answer is yes, God be praised. Ask Him for Grace to desire Him even more. If the answer is no, then you need to repent of this and ask God to teach you to seek Him in all seasons.
