The multi-Grammy award winner said he regrets appearing on the front of his Wake Up My Soul album in 1993 wearing a blue waistcoat.
Asked during an interview with Tearfund what he would say to his younger self, Matt answered: “I know what I’d say to the 19-year-old me: ‘Don’t wear that waistcoat on the album cover, because you’re going to regret that!'”
The 43-year-old also shared that 10,000 Reasons and The Father’s Song were the two favourite songs that he had ever written.
He said: “With 10,000 Reasons, there’s been a lot of momentum around that – a lot of stories have come back about it.
“But there’s a song I wrote a long time ago called The Father’s Song when my wife was pregnant with our first child Maisey – she’s 17 now.
“And it’s really about how God sings over us and how it initiates us singing over him.”
The performer spoke with the international Christian charity as he wrapped up a tour supported by Tearfund and Big Church Live.
