‘Please Pray for Us’ Asks Politician as Congress Addresses Sexual Harassment



Amidst the slew of sexual misconduct allegations in politics, including accusations against members of Congress, America’s legislators have realized that more needs to be done to prevent these situations.


To that end, Congress has taken a step toward addressing sexual harassment and abuse in politics by unanimously adopting a resolution that mandates anti-harassment training for all members of Congress and their staff.


Rep. Robert Pittenger (R-NC) already requires his staff to undergo such training and was one hundred percent behind the resolution. He also asked for prayer as Congress tackles this issue.


“Sexual harassment is wrong, and reports of this behavior on Capitol Hill deeply trouble me,” Pittenger said in a statement. “My office has always had a zero-tolerance policy on sexual harassment, and I am thankful the full House joined together today to require this training for all Members, officers, and employees.”


“Please pray for us,” he continued. “Pray for those who are your leaders. They are people with clay feet. We must live at a higher standard, and people should expect that from us.  We all need to be upheld.”


Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), who helped pass a similar resolution in the Senate a couple weeks ago, said this is just the first step in taking action against sexual misconduct in politics.
