Text: Matthew 12:22-37
Key Verse: “Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men” (Matthew 12:31).
God’s nature is such that He is above reproach even by those who hate Him when He reprimands. This is because He does everything in love; even when He punishes, He does so in love, and every punishment by the Lord is preceded by a series of warnings. Jesus had performed a spectacular miracle which the Pharisees attributed to the power of Beelzebub, the prince of demons.
Witnesses of this miracle had been amazed and wondered aloud ‘is not this the Son of David? But the religious leaders of the day attributed the spectacular work to demons. Jesus reading their thoughts, reprimanded their stand: “And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?” (verse 26). God of miracles is still working through His ministers, to whom He said: “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mark 16:17,18).
As we evangelize the unconverted, the power to heal and deliver the oppressed is the weapon the believer has against Satan’s onslaught. Are you one of those who believe divine healing and miracles ended with the apostolic age? Please, read your Bible again and you will discover the enormous power Christ has bestowed on believers today as we engage in the Great Commission. You will then realize that only Jesus Christ has the power to heal the soul and the body.
Thought for the day: Jesus the same yesterday, today and forever.
