Bethany House tweeted that the July publication of Andy Savage’s book “The Ridiculously Good Marriage” would remain on various retail web sites for a short time until those sites are updated.

The pastor from Highpoint Church in Memphis, Tennessee admitted involvement in inappropriate behaviour with Jules Woodson, after she detailed the incident that occurred 20 years ago in her blog last December.

He told congregants on Sunday that he had sinned but did not give details of what had happened.

Woodson told The New York Times she watched the pastor address his congregation on the matter via an internet live stream on the church’s YouTube page; she said his speech was “disgusting”.

“Jules, I am deeply sorry for my actions 20-years-ago.

“I remain committed to cooperate with you toward forgiveness and healing.”

When he finished, church members stood and applauded.

The church has also released an official statement affirming that it is “100 per cent committed to Andy, Amanda [his wife], and their family, and his continued ministry at Highpoint Church”.
