Christian owner of The Entertainer says pray for Toys R Us staff

Speaking to Premier, he said: “I just pray that those people are able to find new employment, I hope that they finish well with their current employment.

“What we don’t need is getting into debt in between jobs… so I really pray that these people can transition from this current role into a new role.”

Grant has made The Entertainer boldly Christian by remaining closed on Sundays so staff can see their families. The toy chain also has Christian displays in its windows at Christmas.

Grant described how the UK’s high street habits have changed: “We used to go to a large grocer once a week, fill up a great big trolley full of stuff and bring a massive amount home – but I think that’s not happening so much now – I think we’re buying little, more often. And I think that’s probably the same with toys – I think people are not necessarily driving out of town to buy toys as they were in the 80s when Toys R Us first came to the UK… they’re buying more conveniently.”

Speaking of the 5,5000 risks to job between Toys R Us and Maplin, Grant explained: “I think people are the greatest casualty in all of this.
