43 Percent of American Adults Believe Trump Has ‘Helped Interests of Evangelical Christians,’ Pew Finds


A recent Pew Research survey revealed that 43 percent of all American adults believe the Trump administration has “helped interests of evangelical Christians.”

According to the survey, which was conducted in mid-February, while 43 percent of all American adults believe the Trump administration has “helped interests of evangelical Christians,” 11 percent of all American adults believe the President’s administration has hurt the evangelical Christian agenda and 44 percent do not believe the administration has made much of an impact on evangelical interests at all.

Among white evangelical Protestants, 59 percent believe the President and his administration have positively impacted evangelical interests, while seven percent believe their interests have been hurt and 32 percent believe little to no difference was made. 

Overall, the survey found that 64 percent of White Evangelicals “agree with Trump on all, nearly all or many issues”, whereas only 15 percent of Black Protestants, 30 percent of Hispanic Catholics, 32 percent of Jews and 28 percent of religiously unaffiliated people agree with Trump “on all, nearly all or many issues.”

Furthermore, while 48 percent of all U.S. adults agree that the President “fights for what [they] believe in” at least fairly well, among White evangelical Protestants, 81 percent believe the President…
