President Trump said Monday God has tested him during the economic crisis sparked by the pandemic.
Trump made the comments during a stop in Mankato, Minn., where he discussed the campaign and his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden.
“We built the greatest economy in the history of the world and now I have to do it again,” he told a crowd of supporters that was gathered outside at the airport near Air Force One. “You know what that is? That’s right, that’s God testing me. He said, ‘You know, you did it once,’ and I said, ‘Did I do a great job, God? I’m the only one that could do it.’ He said, ‘That you shouldn’t say. Now we’re going to have you do it again.’ I said, ‘OK, I agree. You got me.’”
Trump discussed other issues, including differences between him and Biden on judges. Referencing potential nominations to the Supreme Court by Biden, Trump said, “You will change this country around. It will be irreversible.”
“I think this is going to be the most important election in the history of our country,” Trump said. “This is a very, very big deal going on. Joe Biden is the puppet of left-wing extremists, trying to erase our borders, eliminate our police, indoctrinate our children, vilify our heroes and take away our energy.”
