On the first day of Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation hearing, Concerned Women for America gathered on Capitol Hill to pray and protest in favor of her confirmation, The Christian Post reports.
Coney Barrett is expected to fill the vacancy left behind following the death of the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Monday’s prayer rally was just one part of a campaign organized by Concerned Women for America titled “Women for Amy.”
The goal of the campaign, according to Penny Young Nance, the CEO of Concerned Women for America, is to “voice their support on behalf of Amy Coney Barrett as she went into her hearing.”
In an interview with The Christian Post, Nance shared that the women “were lining the streets on Constitution Avenue and welcoming her so that she knew there was support for her and women of faith in support of her nomination.”
They group all arrived in a pink bus that featured a picture of Coney Barrett and the words “Women for Amy” written in large letters on the side. On the back of the bus was written “Another Great Justice.”
Amy Coney Barrett was chosen by President Trump because of her experience on the court and her strong views on originalism concerning the U.S. Code.
Trump originally wanted to go with her over Justice Kavanaugh, but her lack of court experience, and Kavanaugh’s extensive experience, swayed him to choose Kavanaugh. Since Kavanaugh’s confirmation, however, Coney…
