Memorise: I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. Psalm 18:3

Read: Matthew 15:21-28 (KJV)

21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.

27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

MESSAGE:

Many believers in the civilized world approach prayer time as gentlemen and ladies. If you are really in need, it will be evident in the urgency of your voice. In 2 Kings 6:5, when the borrowed axe head dropped into the river Jordan while the sons of the prophets were felling tree, the one from whose hand the axe head fell screamed: “Alas, Master! For it was borrowed.” This young man did not pretend at all.

Some cannot cry out for the fear of offending other people. Some will rather not pray intensely because they care what people will think of them. How do you call on God today? Is your call a ‘Hello’ or an ‘SOS’ call? If blind Bartimaeus had closed his mouthor had cared about what people said, he would have remained blind forever. Be desperate in your call today!

Action Point: Send an SOS (a distress call) to the Throne of Grace on that pressing issue today.

Hymn 16:

1. Christian, seek not yet repose,
Hear thy gracious Savior say;
Thou art in the midst of foes:
Watch and pray.

2. Principalities and power,
Mustering their unseen array,
Wait for the unguarded hours:
Watch and pray.

3. Gird the heavenly armor on,
Wear it ever night and day;
Ambushed lies the evil one:
Watch and pray.

4. Hear the victors who o’ercame,
Still they mark each warriors’s way;
All with one sweet voice exclaim,
Watch and pray.

5. Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
Him thou lovest to obey;
Hide within thy heart His word:
Watch and pray.

6. Watch, as if on that alone
Hung the issue of the day;
Pray, that help may be sent down:
Watch and pray.
