Quakers in Britain set to protest Donald Trump’s visit

Mr Trump and his wife Melania arrived in London on Thursday for the start of their official visit to the UK with a huge police operation in place involving every single force in the country.

Juliet Prager from Quakers in Britain told Premier that even though they’re protesting, they still praying for the president.

 

Speaking during Premier’s News Hour, she said: “We’re praying for Donald Trump and we’re calling on him to undo the harm that we feel his policies are causing to people around the world.

“We’re very clear about the fact that there is that of God in Donald Trump and there is that of God in everyone around the world and that is what we’re talking about at the moment.”

However, Mr Trump has said he believed people in the UK like him “a lot” and has insisted that’s down to Britons agreeing with him on issues like immigration.

He’s touched down at Stansted and has meetings with the Prime Minister and the Queen over the next couple of days.

The government’s admitted policing his visit will cost millions of pounds.

His trip comes just days after he declined to say whether Mrs May should remain in post, and said he had “always liked” Boris Johnson, who quit as foreign secretary over the Chequers agreement.
