Elise Crean from Armagh will be playing 12 concerts at all 12 cathedrals in Northern Ireland.

She plans to make it to all the churches in time by travelling on the back of a motorcycle her husband will be driving.

“The biggest amount of preparation has been the recitals in each cathedral. So I’ve been spending a lot of time going around the cathedrals and practicing on the organs just to get all of the settings sorted out for the recital,” Crean said.

Crean said she will embark on the 270 mile,14 hour journey to raise £70,000 to fix the organ at her church, First Armagh Presbyterian.

She said: “The organ we have in church is actually a very important organ. It was actually the first organ to be installed in County Armagh way back in 1905 so it’s important to preserve that tradition.

Work is due to begin restoring the instrument in October.

“There’s no way you can buy a new pipe organ for £70,000 so this really is the best option.”

Crean said she expects it to be a tiring day but knows it will be rewarding.

“I expect it to be a long and exhausting day it’s going to be quite a physical challenge travelling around on a motorbike,” she said.

“It’s also going to be a mental challenge to pay all of those different organs in one day. But it’s also once in a lifetime kind of opportunity and experience so I’m excited about the challenge.”
