The Danger of Compromise By David Ibiyeomie
Topic: The Danger of Compromise
Compromise is to be conformed to the world which the scripture condemns. Today, compromise means nothing to people.
2 Cor. 6:17-18 -Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
When you reduce God’s word to the standard of the world, you will get the same result they get; whether in business, career and family. Compromise is a deadly sin. Let the word of God be your standard of living. There is no civilization in the world that can make the Bible to be outdated; it is the same old-rugged truth that can never change. If it worked for Abraham, it will still work for you. It is the most powerful book on earth.
When you compromise; thinking you are looking for a short-cut, you will end up losing everything around you. Many have lost their destinies because they compromised. Most marriages today are in crises because the believers compromised and are paying the price
Prov.14:12 -There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Compromise is agreeing to secure momentary gain and later face shame and reproach. In 1Kings 3, Solomon loved the Lord but a time came in his life that he began to compromise his faith. The same man that built temple for God began to build shrines for idols. His father David never worshipped any idol but Solomon compromised.
1Kings 11:5-6 – For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. 6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and went not fully after the Lord, as did David his father.
The same man that loved God fell from being great king; full of good reputation to being a rejected, frustrated and confused man of no honour because he compromised. Watch what you are doing. Every time you compromise, you are simply heading for a crash but God forbid.
Many Christians compromise because of the love of money. God is not against you having money; He is against money controlling you. When a man loves money, he can do anything to get it. Love of money is the root of all evil.
1 Tim. 6:10 – For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Another reason Christians compromise is due to covetousness. Many are not content with the blessings of God upon their lives per time. When you always look at what you don’t have and constantly wish you have it though you know you don’t have money to acquire that thing; be careful because the spirit of covetousness is nearby and it can lead you to compromise.
Luke 12:15 -And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
Most times external pressure and influence can cause you to compromise too. Please don’t allow external pressure to make you do what you don’t want to do.
1Sam.15:24 -And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.
Saul offended God because people pushed him to do what God instructed him not to do. Therefore, don’t allow people to push you to compromise the standards of God.
Every habit is started in one day; so the day you decide not to compromise anymore, you can also stop it. So take a decision to stop that which you have been compromising for long. As you make this decision today, may God release HIS grace in that direction to help you stop that habit and overcome every work of the flesh in Jesus name –Amen!
God bless you
