Paul White had to be rescued in Queensland, Australia when his two-seater Jabiru came down in Auburn State Forest earlier this week.

The 66-year-old from Derby in Western Australia (WA) told The West Australian newspaper: “I think the Lord used a dozen angels up on me yesterday and I’m just very thankful to be alive.”

The grandfather-of-ten, who is an experienced pilot working for the Kingdom Air ministry in WA, thinks his aircraft suffered an engine failure before the crash.

He continued: “Being a man of faith and loving the Lord, and being a Baptist minister and full-time chaplain, I naturally give all the credit to God.

“I look at that plane and I shouldn’t be alive.”

Mr White was able to activate an emergency position indicating radio beacon, enabling the rescue services to identify his location.

Shayne White from the LifeFlight Rescue Helicopter, which responded to the crash, said: “He’s very lucky.

“Some of these scenes that we go to with those sorts of impacts come to a much worse outcome”.
