Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Dies at 87

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died Friday night in her Washington D.C. home. She was 87 years old.

According to an announcement from the Supreme Court, Ginsburg’s death was caused by complications from her metastatic pancreatic cancer.

“Our Nation has lost a jurist of historic stature,” Chief Justice John Roberts said regarding Ginsburg’s passing. “We at the Supreme Court have lost a cherished colleague. Today we mourn, but with confidence that future generations will remember Ruth Bader Ginsburg as we knew her – a tireless and resolute champion of justice.”

According to the Associated Press, in July, Ginsburg announced that she was undergoing chemotherapy treatment for lesions on her liver. This was her fifth battle with cancer since 1999.

Ginsburg was born in 1933 in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Cornell University in 1954. That same year, she married her husband, Martin. In 1959, Ginsburg graduated at the top of her class from Columbia University law school. She went on to serve as a law clerk to the Honorable Edmund L. Palmieri before becoming a research associate and then associate director of the Columbia Law School Project on International Procedure from 1961–1963. Ginsburg then served as a professor of law at Rutgers University School of Law from 1963–1972, and Columbia Law School from 1972–1980. In 1980, she was appointed as Judge of the U.S. Court of…

American Gospel Producers Announce Upcoming Streaming Service

American Gospel Producers Announce Upcoming Streaming Service

The producers of the hit Christian documentary series American Gospel have announced that they will release their own streaming service this fall.

In a statement on Friday, the producers explained that the streaming service will be known as AGTV and will feature “biblically-centered teaching” from a variety of sources, original programming, as well as their two American Gospel films.

“This is the riskiest thing we’ve ever done, but it will be the best way to get timely content to our supporters and provide like-minded material from filmmakers and ministries we trust,” the producers wrote.

“Everything on the network will tie in some way to our existing or future films,” Brandon Kimber, The Director of American Gospel explained.

Kimber will serve as the President and Chief Content Officer of the new streaming service.

AGTV will feature both a free section and a paid section on its platform, at under $5.99 a month.

“Free content will be provided by partners from Ligonier Ministries, Red Grace Media, Living Waters, The G3 Conference and White Horse Inn,” the announcement stated. “Kimber is still in talks with additional ministries.”

On the paid portion of the platform, the first two American Gospel films, Christ Alone and Christ Crucified will be featured. Additionally, extended versions of both films will be “formed into episodes with hours of additional round-table discussions,…

City Council Drops Charges against Pastor Fined $800 for Holding Church Services

City Council Drops Charges against Pastor Fined $800 for Holding Church Services

In Niles, Illinois, Romanian pastor Daniel Chiu of Logos Baptist Ministries, has been fined $800 for holding indoor church services.

According to The Christian Post, the city is claiming that Chiu violated an executive order from governor J.B. Pritzker restricting gatherings amid COVID-19.

Initially, Chiu was also handed four criminal charges for holding the gatherings, but after Christian legal firm Liberty Counsel jumped in, the city dropped the charges.

“It is beyond belief that a pastor would be charged with ‘disorderly conduct’ for peacefully and safely holding a church service,” Liberty Counsel founder and Chairman Mat Staver said according to The Christian Post. “Think about it — a pastor who survived communist Romania is charged with ‘disorderly conduct’ for holding a church service in America — the land of the free,” he continued. “This is shameful. The repression against the church under communism failed, and it will not succeed here in America.”

Liberty Counsel will now file a petition with the Supreme Court to get Illinois Governor’s Executive Order reviewed.

“While Gov. J.B. Pritzker removed ALL restrictions on churches and houses of worship when he was previously called to account to the Supreme Court, the High Court ruled that the governor failed to make it absolutely clear that he would not return to the prior executive order. This…

Photo of Candace Cameron Bure, Husband Showing PDA Draws Backlash

Photo of Candace Cameron Bure, Husband Showing PDA Draws Backlash

A photo of Candace Cameron Bure and husband Valeri Bure is receiving backlash from some who are calling it inappropriate. But the Christian celebrity isn’t standing for it.

Candace Cameron Bure and husband Valeri Bure met at a hockey game in 1994. Two years later, on June 22, 1996, they became husband and wife.

With more than 20 years of marriage under their belt, the flame is still very much alive for these love birds.

And that was very apparent in a playful photo Candace shared in her Instagram stories. However, the Christian celebrity caught heat from some who felt the image was inappropriate.

But Candace isn’t backing down and even reshared the photo along with a rebuttal to all the controversy!

In the post, Candace Cameron Bure shared two photos of her and husband Valeri Bure captured “sweet and spicy”. And in the second “spicy” photo, Valeri has his arm around Candace, with his hand resting directly on his wife’s chest.

Some folks commenting blasted her for a public display of affection (PDA) they considered too racy for a Christian celebrity.

Candace Cameron Bure is known for being outspoken. She’s not afraid to speak out about her faith. And she’s also not afraid to face controversy. So, rather than back down or remove the image, Candace fired back.

“Sorry if it offended you… I’m actually not sorry,” she laughed in a follow-up video shared to her Instagram…

‘We’re Going to Fill the Seat,’ Trump Says of Supreme Court Vacancy, Historic Opportunity

‘We’re Going to Fill the Seat,’ Trump Says of Supreme Court Vacancy, Historic Opportunity

President Trump this weekend said he would quickly name a nominee to fill the seat of the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, adding that he and the Senate have a “moral duty to fulfill the promises they made to the voters.”

“We’re going to fill the seat,” Trump said at a rally in North Carolina. “… We have plenty of time.”

On Monday, Trump said the nominee likely would be announced Friday or Saturday. He is considering five candidates, he said. It will be a woman, he added.

It would be the third vacancy he has filled.

The vacancy gives Trump an historic opportunity: The last president to fill more than two vacancies on the Supreme Court was Ronald Reagan, who placed three justices on the court in the span of two terms. Richard Nixon was the last president to fill more than two seats on the court in only one term. (Nixon, in his first term, filled four vacancies.) Presidents George W. Bush, Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Obama each filled two vacancies.

More significantly, the vacancy gives Trump a chance to shape the court’s ideology by replacing two supporters of Roe v. Wade with new justices. He previously replaced swing vote Anthony Kennedy – who had voted to uphold Roe – with Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Ginsburg was a champion of liberal causes, having served as an attorney for the ACLU before being named to the D.C. Court of Appeals…

Two-thirds of U.S. Young Adults Unaware 6 Million Jews Were Killed in the Holocaust, Poll Shows

Two-thirds of U.S. Young Adults Unaware 6 Million Jews Were Killed in the Holocaust, Poll Shows

Nearly two-thirds of young adults in the United States do not know that 6 million Jews were killed during the Holocaust, according to a surprising new survey that also shows Holocaust denial is prevalent on social media.

The poll of U.S. Millennials and Gen Z adults ages 18-39, released last week, showed that only 37 percent accurately said 6 million Jewish people were killed during the Holocaust. One third (36 percent) said it was 2 million or less, while 17 percent were not sure. It was a multiple-choice question, with seven possible answers.

Nearly half of respondents (48 percent) could not name a single concentration camp, death camp or ghetto during World War II. (Auschwitz, at 44 percent, was the most well-known camp.)

About half (49 percent) also said they had seen holocaust denial or distortion on social media or elsewhere online.

A total of 15 percent of respondents said they believe either the number of Jews has been exaggerated (12 percent) or the Holocaust did not happen (3 percent).

The survey was commissioned by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany. It included 1,000 interviews nationwide and 200 interviews in each state.

“The results are both shocking and saddening and they underscore why we must act now while Holocaust survivors are still with us to voice their stories,” said Gideon Taylor, president of the conference….

Brown, 32, who has had a very public struggle with drugs and his mental health, told The Christian Post Monday that he is looking forward to graduating from Rise Discipleship, a free 6-month in-patient recovery program for men who struggle with addiction, homelessness and other life-controlling issues run by Rise Church in Abilene, Texas.

“We help not only those who struggle with drugs and alcohol, but also those who battle depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. Every RISE student will be given a biblical foundation that will assist in character building and the leadership development to approach life in a new light,” the Rise Discipleship website explains.

Pro-Life Democrats in NYT Ad: Party Is ‘Radically Out of Line with Public Opinion’ on Abortion

Pro-Life Democrats in NYT Ad: Party Is ‘Radically Out of Line with Public Opinion’ on Abortion

More than 100 current and former Democratic leaders signed a letter printed in the New York Times Sunday saying the party’s “extreme position” on abortion is “alienating voters” and that many Democratic leaders are “radically out of line with public opinion.”

The letter was part of a full-page ad in the newspaper and was endorsed by several current politicians, including Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards, U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson (Minn.) and Louisiana state Rep. Katrina Jackson. Among the former legislators who signed the letter were former U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson (Neb.) and former U.S. Rep. Bart Stupak (Mich.).

All total, the letter included the signatures of four governors and lieutenant governors, nine current or former members of Congress, 57 state legislators and 33 local officials.

It was organized by Democrats For Life Of America.

The letter says the pro-life Democrats are united by three “major concerns”:

  • “We are concerned that many Democratic leaders support policies on abortion that are radically…

Pastor Says His Preaching License Will Not Be Renewed over His Support of Joe Biden

Pastor Says His Preaching License Will Not Be Renewed over His Support of Joe Biden

A 21-year-old Texas pastor says his preaching license will not be renewed after he publicly endorsed Joe Biden for President on his social media account.

According to Relevant Magazine, David Bumgardner, a student at Southwestern Seminary’s Scarborough College, says the pastor at the church he has interned with told him that his license will not be renewed.

Bumgardner received the license in July after serving a year-long internship at Faith Memorial Baptist Church in Archer City.

Also in July, Bumgardner posted on Facebook that he would be voting for Biden.

“I am voting for Joe Biden to get the most egotistical, hypocritical, divisive, deranged, and dangerous man to ever hold presidential office out of the Oval,” he wrote. “I am voting for Joe Biden because he will bring back decency to the White House.”

Bumgardner said he was Republican but said he believed President Donald Trump is a “threat to the flourishing of my neighbors … to national security … (and) to national unity.”

“I am a conservative, Bible-believing, orthodox, evangelical Baptist that believes the best way to serve my neighbors and steward my vote is by helping Joe Biden get to the White House,” he wrote on Twitter.

After the post gained views and comments, Avery Sprey, pastor at Faith Memorial Baptist Church, reportedly told Bumgardner that his license to preach would not be…
