Six Reasons Your Pastor Is about to Quit

About one-third of you readers are laypersons. This article is for you. Of course, I know pastors and other vocational ministry leaders will be reading as well. Perhaps, more than my article, they will be reading your comments. They will be searching eagerly to see if anyone has a word of encouragement. They may be anticipating the responses will be a barrage of negativity they have become accustomed to receiving.

Please hear me clearly. The vast majority of pastors with whom our team communicates are saying they are considering quitting their churches. It’s a trend I have not seen in my lifetime. Some are just weeks away from making an announcement. They are looking for work in the secular world. Some will move to bivocational ministry. Some will move to marketplace ministry.

But many will move.

Why has this period of great discouragement ensued? Of course, it is connected to COVID-19, but the pandemic really just exacerbated trends already in place. We would have likely gotten to this point in the next three to five years regardless.

I also want you to know that these pastors do not think they will be leaving ministry. They just believe the current state of negativity and apathy in many local churches is not the most effective way they can be doing ministry.

So, they are leaving or getting ready to leave. There are many reasons why, but allow me to share the top six reasons, understanding that they are not mutually exclusive.

  1. Pastors are weary from the pandemic, just like…

Having the Right COACH is Sincerely IMPORTANT

Knowing You – GUC ( EeZeeConceptz )

The single. “Knowing You” by GUC is not just another song, it is a supplication, a deep yearning for God, a heart cry to rid the flesh of its lust and be found in Christ-likeness.

Minister GUC in his usual style reaches for the depth of communion, latching on to his message while deeply immense in worship for the purpose of cleansing, spiritual infilling and an overwhelming outpouring. No doubt, the end result will be abounding testimonies yet again.

“There comes a time when we feel the incomparable depth in Christ and the desire to know Him more. Beyond the demands that life imprints on us, here is a song that expresses a genuine heart cry of the believer .

“”To know the father beyond what life offers”

“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth; in doing this, there must be a hunger and a yearning for deep brooks in Him.

“Philippians 3 vs 10
That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.” – Minister GUC

“Knowing You” follows the release of “Yours”, which dropped in June of 2020, ahead of “The Bill,” a song which resonated with the resurrection season. There has been a hint that an album may be in the works. Considering the magnitude of releases, it is not far fetched but we await further details as released by EeZee Conceptz Global.

Teach me Lord, to know Your Ways
To know Your Truth

Lord I wanna know You
Better than I know me
Teach me Lord, to know Your Ways
To know Your Truth

Rid me of the Pride of this World
So that I can See You Clearly
Teach me Lord to know Your Ways

Strip me of the Pride of this World
So that can See You clearly

So that can See You Clearly
Teach me Lord to know Your Ways

Strip me of the Pride of this World
So that can See You Clearly
Teach me Lord to know Your Ways

Postcard from a Wyoming town that punches above its weight

The charming streets of Sheridan, Wyoming. | Dennis Lennox

Not far from Wyoming’s border with Montana is Sheridan.

With a population of 17,444 this is a medium-sized city by Cowboy State standards. Yet, in almost every other state it would be considered small-town America.

Sheridan’s downtown is neat. The streetscape features a mix of architecture from the first half of the last century. Over 40 of these buildings, including the Perpendicular Gothic-influenced St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Unlike many communities of its size Main Street is mostly occupied with mom-and-pop shops, including the must-visit King’s Saddlery. The charming vibe makes for a perfect weekend trip.

The Brinton Museum in Big Horn (population 307) on the outskirts of Sheridan is hands down the biggest draw. The impressive collection of Western art and Indian artifacts — once the private collection of the museum’s namesake, Bradford Brinton — is housed in an architecturally striking building with spectacular views of the Bighorn Mountains.

Back in town, Trails End State Historic Site offers a glimpse into the early 20th-century life of cattle baron John Kendrick, sometime governor of Wyoming and U.S. senator. The mansion’s Flemish Revival architecture and Gilded Age interior decor is on par with its contemporaries on the East Coast.

On a summer weekend one of the most popular things to do is watching a polo match. In fact, the environs of Sheridan are home to two competing clubs,

This week in Christian history: English pope dies, ‘Christ and Culture’ author born, early church baptism controversy

St. Cyprian (200-258), the Bishop of Carthage who was martyred for his beliefs. | Public Domain

Christianity is a faith with a long and detailed history, with numerous events of lasting significance occurring throughout the ages.

Each week brings the anniversaries of great milestones, horrid tragedies, amazing triumphs, and everything in between.

Here are three things that happened this week, Aug. 30-Sept. 5, in Church history. They include the death of the only Englishman to be pope, the birth of a notable American Protestant theologian, and an early church debate on baptism.

More than half of US adults, 30% of evangelicals believe Jesus isn’t God: study

Unsplash/Paul Zoetemeijer

More than half of American adults, including 30% of evangelicals, say Jesus isn’t God but most agree He was a great teacher, according to results from the 2020 State of Theology survey.

Even though the Bible and traditional teachings of the Christian Church hold that Jesus truly existed as both man and God, among the key findings of the biennial State of Theology survey from Ligonier Ministries conducted with LifeWay Research, is that 52% of American adults believe that Jesus was a great teacher and nothing more.

And nearly a third of evangelicals also support that view, a preliminary release on the findings of the study said Thursday. The complete report on the survey, conducted March 10 to 18 among 3,002 U.S. adults including 630 professing evangelicals, is expected to be released on Sept. 8.

“Statistics like these from the State of Theology survey can give us quite a shock, but they also shed light on the concerns that many American Christians and churches have expressed for decades. As the culture around us increasingly abandons its moral compass, professing evangelicals are sadly drifting away from God’s absolute standard in Scripture,” Stephen Nichols,…

Outrage After French Magazine Depicts Black MP As A Slave – Urban Christian News

French President Emmanuel Macron led nationwide outrage Saturday after an ultra-conservative magazine portrayed a black lawmaker as a slave.

The French presidency said Macron called Danielle Obono from the far-left party France Unbowed and “expressed his clear condemnation of any form of racism”.

The magazine, Valeurs Actuelles, which caters to readers on the right and far right, showed Obono in chains with an iron collar on her neck to illustrate a seven-page imaginary story.

Prime Minister Jean Castex said it was a “revolting publication that calls for clear condemnation” and told Obono that she had the government’s backing.

“I share the indignation of lawmaker Obono,” he said.

“One is free to write a putrid novel within the limits fixed by the law. One is free to hate it. I hate it,” said Justice Minister Eric Dupond-Moretti.

Obono tweeted: “The extreme right — odious, stupid and cruel. In brief, like itself.”

The anti-racism body SOS Racisme deplored rising hate speech against African and Arab politicians and said it was mulling what legal measures could be taken to counter this.

Biden Is a Catholic ‘In Name Only’ and Is ‘Radically Pro-Abortion,’ Lou Holtz Says

Biden Is a Catholic ‘In Name Only’ and Is ‘Radically Pro-Abortion,’ Lou Holtz Says

Former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz endorsed President Trump’s re-election during this week’s Republican National Convention, yet it was his words about Democratic nominee Joe Biden that drew the most attention.

Holtz, a member of the College Football Hall of Fame, criticized Biden’s pro-choice record and said he was a Catholic “in name only.”

Holtz also contrasted Biden’s record with that of Trump.

“One of the important reasons he has my trust is because nobody has been a stronger advocate for the unborn than President Trump,” Holtz said. “The Biden-Harris ticket is the most radically pro-abortion campaign in history. They and other politicians are Catholics in name only and abandon innocent lives. President Trump protects those lives. I trust President Trump.”

Holtz referenced a statue at Notre Dame that includes three words: trust, commitment and love.

“All my life I’ve made my choices based on these three words. I use these three rules to make choices about everything – my beloved wife of 59 years, athletes I coached, and of course, politicians, even President Trump,” Holtz said.

Holtz said he asks himself three questions based on the three words: Can I trust them? Are they committed to doing their very best? Do they love people?

Trump passes the test, Holtz said.

“I used to ask our athletes at Notre Dame: If you did not show…

Former Liberty University Student Accuses Becki Falwell of Sexual Misconduct

Former Liberty University Student Accuses Becki Falwell of Sexual Misconduct

Becki Falwell, the wife of now former Liberty University President, Jerry Falwell Jr., continues to face controversy as a former Liberty University student claims that she performed oral sex on him in the summer of 2008 when he was 22 years old.

Earlier this week, a former business partner revealed that he had a seven-year-long affair with Becki while her husband allegedly acted as a voyeur.

The former Liberty University student, now 34, is speaking out about his sexual encounter with Falwell as he believes that she has abused her power.

“She was the aggressor,” the unnamed student told Politico.

During the summer of 2008, he and his band would hold rehearsals at an abandoned church near the Falwell’s residence in Fairfax, VA. Becki Falwell’s eldest son, Trey, was the band’s guitarist.

He recounted that Becki would often make a habit of showing up at the band’s rehearsals. While she usually came to offer drinks and snacks, she would “always stick around”.

“She was like, ‘Hey, I know I’m a mom, but I wanna be friends with everyone,’” another bandmate of the student added. “It was, like, a ‘Dude, why is somebody’s Mom chilling with us?’ type thing.”

While the former student didn’t make much of it at first, he stated that she would always give him looks and “little innuendos.”

Then one occasion, Falwell asked the young man, “have you told your…
