President Trump Says the 2020 DNC Was the ‘Darkest and Angriest’ Convention in U.S. History

President Trump Says the 2020 DNC Was the ‘Darkest and Angriest’ Convention in U.S. History

President Donald Trump called the 2020 Democratic National Convention “the darkest and angriest and gloomiest convention” in U.S. history.

“They spent four straight days attacking America as racist and a horrible country that must be redeemed,” Trump said, according to The Christian Post.

Trump, speaking at the 2020 Council for National Policy meeting last week, also added if former vice president Joe Biden is elected, “China will own our country.”

“Where Joe Biden sees American darkness, I see American greatness,” the president added. “We’ve seen heroic doctors and nurses racing into action to save lives. We’ve seen first responders helping strangers in need. We’ve seen the passage of historic legislation to save 50 million American jobs. We’ve mobilized American industry like never before.”

The 2020 Democratic National Convention ended Thursday.

According to reports, during at least two public meeting at the DNC, speakers omitted the phrase “under God” from the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.

In the Muslim Delegates & Allies Assembly web meeting, the moderator did not say “under God” in the pledge. Then during the LGBTQ Caucus Meeting, the speaker also did not say “under God” during the pledge.

“It’s an attack on religion. Did you see the man that got up and sang a very, very special phrase from a very, very special…

Assemblies of God head warns church on election season: Don’t let division seep in

In 100 years, the Assemblies of God has grown from 300 ministers in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to now more than 67.5 million global adherents attending over 366,000 churches. | Facebook/Assemblies of God

In a pastoral letter, Doug Clay, the head of Assemblies of God, urged the leaders of the denomination’s 13,000 congregations in the United States to be “extremely cautious” as the upcoming election season will “certainly” be divisive. While maintaining spiritual unity, he said, they should advocate for biblical justice and liberty.

“Polarization and politics naturally go together,” wrote Clay, the general superintendent of the Assemblies of God, USA. “It’s the Spirit who brings unity.”

“Polarization in 2020 has risen to a higher level and has trickled down to even mundane decisions,” the AG leader acknowledged. “We should be extremely cautious that we do not allow division to seep into Christ’s Church that will inevitably lead to self-destruction.”

Clay called on the church leaders to focus on the denomination’s mission, which is “evangelism, worship, discipleship, and compassion,” and not on politics.

He noted that it’s “becoming more and more…

Democratic Party’s Platform Promises Taxpayer-Funded Abortion, ‘LGBTQ+ Inclusive’ Sex-Ed, Pro-Roe Judges

Democratic Party’s Platform Promises Taxpayer-Funded Abortion, ‘LGBTQ+ Inclusive’ Sex-Ed, Pro-Roe Judges

The platform approved by Democratic National Convention delegates last week supports taxpayer-funded abortion, judges who will “respect and enforce” Roe v Wade, and “LGBTQ+ inclusive, age-appropriate sex education” for schools.

It is likely the most socially liberal Democratic platform in party history.

This year marks the first time a Democratic platform has explicitly endorsed judges who back Roe, the 1973 decision that legalized abortion nationwide. (The 2016 platform didn’t mention Roe, although it did support legalized abortion.) It also is the first time a Democratic platform has endorsed LGBT-inclusive sex education.

It is only the second time a Democratic platform has explicitly called for taxpayer-funded abortion by reversing the Hyde Amendment, a legislation provision that prohibits federal funding of abortion. (The 2016 platform was the first explicitly to oppose Hyde.)

The 2020 platform also calls for restoring Title X federal funds to Planned Parenthood that were pulled by the Trump administration. Further, it calls for federal assistance to be used to pay for abortions in other countries.

“Democrats are committed to protecting and advancing reproductive health, rights, and justice,” the 2020 platform says. “We believe unequivocally, like the majority of Americans, that every woman should be able to access high-quality…

5 Things Christians Should Know about QAnon

In recent years, the followers of a conspiracy theory known as QAnon have become more visible in American life. The movement, which has largely been fueled by internet message boards and social media, started in 2017. However, several supporters of Q have been involved in political campaigns this year and the President was asked about their theories at a recent press conference.

Followers of the movement tend to be supporters of President Trump, so they are often conservative in their outlook on politics. A church in Indiana spends hours a week help studying Q’s messages and seeking to support them with the Bible. QAnon has moved from the fringes of American conservatism and into the limelight, so Christians should understand this movement and see the potential pitfalls of spreading the group’s message.

Here are five things Christians need to know about QAnon:

‘Jesus Is Always the Winner’: Thousands Order ‘Jesus2020’ Signs ahead of Election

‘Jesus Is Always the Winner’: Thousands Order ‘Jesus2020’ Signs ahead of Election

With the 2020 presidential election just a few months away, two friends from a small church in Alabama have started a special campaign that is pointing people to Jesus.

Friends Joyce Hubbard and Martha Sikes put together the Jesus2020 campaign as a means of encouragement in these unprecedented times.

“People need Jesus with everything that’s going on,” Hubbard told Fox News. “He’s the only one that we can count on. He’s the one that keeps his promises. He’s already the winner.”

“If everyone would just focus on Jesus right now, everything would just fall into place and we wouldn’t have the problems we have,” she continued. “He’s the only way.”

The campaign features Jesus2020 yard signs which can be ordered on the Jesus2020 Facebook page.

Over 5,000 Jesus2020 signs have been made and shipped to California, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and other U.S. states.

The signs are printed at Wells Printing in Montgomery, Alabama. Additional items for sale include Jesus2020 T-shirts, magnets, and decals.

The campaign’s headquarters is in Sampey Memorial Baptist Church in Ramer, Alabama, where both friends attend. The church re-opened in May following COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.

“We don’t have to be some megachurch. All it takes is a spark and we want to set fires everywhere,” Hubbard said. “We want Jesus’s name out there.”

Many churches as well as entire neighborhoods have…

‘We’re standing in defense against gov’t overreach,’ Pastor Rob McCoy says after court ruling

Pastor Rob McCoy speaks at Godspeak Calvary Chapel in California, Aug. 23, 2020. | YouTube/Godspeak Calvary Chapel

After a court held Pastor Rob McCoy and his California church, Godspeak Calvary Chapel, in contempt for failing to obey a COVID-19-related restraining order prohibiting indoor worship services, the pastor said it was a small price to pay to stand “in defense of a government’s overreach.”

“We’re standing in defense of a government’s overreach and a government that would call the church nonessential. It’s a small price to pay and I’m good with it,” McCoy said.

On Friday, Ventura County Superior Court Judge Vincent O’Neill Jr. issued the ruling, fining the chapel $3,000, which includes $500 for every violation. County officials had recommended $6,000 in fines against the church for holding six indoor services over the past two Sundays.

“I didn’t want this but I am a pastor. We live in a nation that allows us to worship and that’s why we’re doing what we’re doing,” the pastor said, as he spoke to journalists outside the court.

In a YouTube live video on Saturday, Pastor McCoy said, “This is not an issue of religious liberty or the church being…

An “unprecedented” threat on the Gulf Coast: In a year of crisis, an empowering key Christians need to remember

This satellite image released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) shows Tropical Storm Laura in the North Atlantic Ocean, Friday, Aug. 21, 2020. (AP Images)

The year 2020 continues to make history for all the wrong reasons.

The good news is that Hurricane Marco weakened overnight to a tropical storm before it makes expected landfall on the Louisiana coast later today. The bad news is that Tropical Storm Laura is forecasted to strengthen to a hurricane before it makes landfall late Wednesday or early Thursday.

Parts of Louisiana will start to see the effects of Laura by Wednesday morning, after Marco leaves the state Tuesday evening. National Weather Service meteorologist Benjamin Scott said, “The unprecedented kind of thing here is that it’s the same state within forty-eight hours of each other.”

And this is happening in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic; the Louisiana Department of Health reported 1,223 more cases and fifty-nine more deaths in the last two days.

In a year filled with so many challenges at the same time, Christians can make a transforming difference in our culture. However, there’s an empowering key we need to remember.

When we are more Socratic than biblical

I teach the history of Western thought in the doctoral program at Dallas Baptist University. In our study, we note that an essential shift comes early in our intellectual history with Socrates’ dictum “Know yourself.”

Four centuries before Christ, Socrates taught that we know truth by knowing ourselves. This focus on the individual as the locus of knowledge, in contrast to truth known through the community or by divine revelation, has been foundational to secular culture from his day to ours.

Even evangelical Christians can be more Socratic than biblical.

In answer to Jesus’ imperative “You must be born again” (John 3:7), we rightly emphasize the urgency of personal faith in our Savior….

Five Reasons Why Church Adoption and Church Fostering Are Such Important Movements

When Sam Rainer coined the word “adoption” two years ago as a descriptor of one church acquiring another, I knew he was on to something. Instead of using corporate words like “acquisition” or unclear words like “replanting,” he used a powerful familial word. Adoption is one family bringing another family member into the household of faith.

I followed Sam’s example a year later by using the word, “fostering” to refer to a healthier church helping a less healthy church for a season. In the case of adoption, the arrangement is permanent. For fostering, the relationship is temporary.

Both are important and powerful words because they describe two distinct but closely related movements that are important and powerful. Why are these terms so important? Even more, why are the movements behind them so important? Here are five reasons:

  1. When a church is adopted or fostered, closure is prevented or, at the very least, less likely. There is therefore still a congregational presence in the community. The physical resources intended for God’s work remain for God’s work.
  1. The pandemic has increased the need for church adoption and fostering. More churches are struggling. More churches are at risk of closure. More pastors are leaving under pressure and frustration. The need is great. And the resources are there.
  1. The church adoption and church fostering movements are reminders that churches should work together to reach a community. These movements are a form of…

‘God is calling us to true joy’: Levi Lusko on COVID-19, racism, church reopening

Levi Lusko is the lead pastor of Fresh Life Church, a multi-site church in Montana and Utah. | Facebook/Levi Lusko

In a year defined by racial tension and pandemic hysteria, Pastor Levi Lusko believes God is calling His people to abandon their idols and experience true joy.

Lusko, lead pastor of Fresh Life Church, a multi-site church in Montana and Utah, told The Christian Post that he, like millions of other Americans, has found 2020 to be an “incredibly difficult” year.

But amid the pain, anxiety, and uncertainty, Lusko, who recently released his latest book, Take Back Your Life: A 40 Day Interactive Journey to Thinking Right So You Can Live Right, believes God is calling His people to “true joy.”

“God is calling us to try joy. I believe that’s the predominant thing He’s trying to stir in our hearts this year,” he said. “In the very early days of March, April, and May, I felt God really calling me to true joy. Sometimes, we have to have those counterfeit sources of joy stripped away from us to experience true joy.”

Lusko admitted that his “biggest go-to idol” is control.

“But I’m out of control,” he said. “None of us can control this pandemic. By having…
