A Muslim Man Forces Christian Wife to Drink Pesticide

A 38-year-old mother of three in eastern Uganda had secretly put her faith in Christ for three months before her Muslim husband found two Bibles in her suitcase.

On that day, Nov. 21, in Bugiri District’s Matovu village, Zubeda Nabirye’s husband asked her why she had the two Bibles, one in English and the other in their tribal language. Her husband, Umar Kyakulaga, also asked if she had converted to Christianity, she said.

“I replied to him that a friend had given me the Bibles, and that I was using it to compare it with what is written in the Koran, and after all religion is a matter of personal choice,” Nabirye told a Morning Star News contact. She also told her husband, “I was convicted and decided to embrace Christianity.”

Kyakulaga grew angry and picked up a copy of the Koran, she said.

“My husband began reading verses in the Koran that allowed men to beat their wives if they disobey them, and after that he started beating me with slaps and sticks,” she said. “As if this was not enough, he forced me to take Dithane M-45,” a toxic pesticide.

She tried not to swallow the pesticide he had forced into her mouth but ingested some while he was trying to strangle her and hitting her leg with sticks, she said. He also injured her chest, neck and thigh, Nabirye said.

When the couple moved to Matovu from Kaliro district earlier this year, they had left their three children with Nabirye’s mother-in-law due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus no one else was home when Nabirye lost consciousness. Read more …

4 Ways to Be Led by the Spirit of God – by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland

Are you hearing special insights from the Lord each day? You can! Learn four ways to be led by the Spirit of God and achieve supernatural results in your life!

He didn’t own a pair of shoes until he was 12 years old. With only a fifth-grade education and having come from a poor family, he had not been given the opportunity to succeed in life. Yet this man from Texas had become a multimillionaire.

Without any formal education or training, he had become very wealthy through investments. In fact, he had never lost one dime in a single investment! How did he do it? He once shared the secret with his friends:

“I always do this. When someone comes along with an idea, I don’t allow myself to think about it mentally. Instead, I go into my closet and pray. I wait as long as it takes until I hear something. Sometimes it can take as long as three days. I come out for some meals and a little sleep, but mainly I remain quiet and alone with the Lord until I know by an inward witness what I am to do.”

He shared that there were times when an idea seemed like a really good one that would surely bring a return, but his inward witness told him not to invest. At others, it seemed like a dead-end opportunity, but his spirit told him to move ahead and invest. Every single time, he made the right choice.

Following the inward witness gave him special insight into the supernatural and how to become financially prosperous. This man took the time to develop and train his human spirit to be led by the Spirit of God, and you can, too! It won’t come overnight, but you can enjoy this special insight and guidance in every area of your life, as you train your human spirit. Here are four ways you can be led by the Spirit of God every single day.

1. Meditate on the Word of God

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” –Joshua 1:8 (NKJV)

To get to the place in your life where you can be led by the Spirit of God, you must first be able to recognize His voice. This comes from not only prayer and reading the Word of God, but by also meditating on the Word of God, which is one of the ways to be led by His Spirit.

Find 3 Steps to Successfully Meditate on the Word of God here.

What does it mean to meditate on the Word of God? It means to stop and think about what you’ve read, and allow the Holy Spirit to bring new revelation, even to a verse you’ve read a hundred times. Meditating on the Word of God is more than reading the Bible—it is studying, analyzing, seeking and reflecting. It is seeking God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength. It’s being open to a new interpretation you haven’t considered before—one that might be different than what your mama told you or your pastor told you.

When you meditate on the Word of God, you are training your human spirit to recognize God’s voice and be more in tune with what He has to say to you, specifically—about every detail of every situation. That’s why God told Joshua that meditating on His Word was the key to prosperity and success (Joshua 1:8). He gave him the secret to achieving everything he had ever wanted. That secret is meditating on His Word. Read more …

Good News – Christian man in Pakistan Acquitted of Blasphemy after 11 Years in Prison

Morning Star News  reports that a Christian who spent nearly 11 years in solitary confinement over a false allegation of desecrating the Koran was set to walk free after a high court this week overturned his conviction, sources said.

The Lahore High Court on Tuesday (Dec. 15) ruled that prosecutors failed to prove the case against Imran Ghafoor Masih, a 32-year-old Catholic from Faisalabad sentenced to life in prison on Jan. 11, 2010 and fined more than $1,000. He was kept in solitary confinement due to threats on his life, as have others accused of blaspheming Islam.

His conviction on charges of desecrating the Koran and thus outraging religious feelings (Section 295-B and 295-A respectively in Pakistan’s blasphemy laws) was based on an accusation of a rival shopkeeper and his accomplices, who used a mosque loudspeaker system to incite a mob that beat Masih and also ransacked his shop.

Faryad Ali accused Masih of tearing out pages of the Koran and burning them on July 1, 2009. Masih claimed that the papers he burned were a heap of old merchandise records he had gathered while cleaning his store, Masih’s lawyer, Khalil Tahir Sandhu, told Morning Star News. He added that Ali fabricated the blasphemy case against Masih at the behest of another shopkeeper, Haji Liaqat, who sought to seize the Christian’s rented shop.

“Upon examining the evidence against Masih, the court observed that the ashes of the burnt pages were not of the Koran but of some newspapers and poetry books,” Sandhu said. “It was evident that the police had registered the case against Masih under pressure from the mob and did not even conduct proper investigation of the recovered evidence.”

Sandhu, also an opposition lawmaker in the Punjab Assembly, lamented that an innocent man remained in solitary confinement while his appeal passed through the offices of at least 10 high court judges in 11 years, with hearings postponed more than 70 times.

“I’m grateful to the court for ordering Masih’s release on merit, but who will compensate him for the years he spent in jail?” Sandhu said. “His parents passed away during his incarceration. Both times I took the bodies to the Faisalabad Central Jail so that Masih could take a last look at his parents before their burial. The poor man could not even attend their last rites.”

The attorney said a bill had been submitted in the Punjab Assembly last week calling for amendments to Pakistan’s widely condemned blasphemy laws.

“It is crucial to stop the misuse of this law,” Sandhu said. “Masih is not the only person who has languished in jail for years for a crime he never committed. This miscarriage of justice has to end, and the only way to curb this trend of falsely accusing people of blasphemy is to ensure punishment for the accusers and those who testify in their favor.”

Sandhu said that Masih would be released from prison in the next couple of days, “but the world will never be the same for him.”

“He has lost his parents, his business as well as his security,” he said. “Even though he has been acquitted of the false charge, he won’t be able to live in the same neighborhood or city.”

Prior Acquittal of Christian

On Oct. 5, the Lahore High Court acquitted another Catholic sentenced to death on blasphemy charges six years ago after defense attorneys proved the case against his client showed mala fide by the complainant.

Sawan Masih, a 40-year-old father of three, was handed the death sentence in March 2014 after a Muslim friend accused him of blaspheming against Islam’s prophet. The false accusation resulted in the burning down of more than 150 homes, shops and church buildings in Lahore’s impoverished, predominantly Christian Joseph Colony in March 2013. Read more …

Kidnappers release a Nigerian Parish Priest after he PRAYED

Acnuk report that a priest kidnapped in Nigeria has described how his abductors were persuaded to set him free after witnessing his unswerving devotion to the Rosary.

Father Valentine Ezeagu was driving through Imo state on Tuesday (15th December) en route to his father’s funeral when he was ambushed by four armed men.

The priest was freed 36 hours later and, reporting his release to his religious superior, Father Ezeagu said the abductors had let him go after watching him pray.

Speaking to Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) within minutes of receiving Father Ezeagu’s call, Father George Okorie, Superior General of the Congregation of the Sons of Mary, Mother of Mercy, said: “When I spoke to Father Valentine, he told me that seeing him saying his Rosary made his abductors confused.

“They started having a guilty conscience. It made them realise that, dressed in his soutane [priest’s cassock], they had not got the right person so they gave him food and released him.”

Saying that, as yet, there was no information about Father Ezeagu’s kidnappers, Father Okorie said: “We thank God who has really touched the hearts of the abductors. We pray for them.

“We pray too that they may have a conversion of heart and realise that kidnapping is not a business. It is devilish.”

Father Okorie described Father Ezeagu as a “very dedicated” young priest and said people all over Nigeria and beyond had been praying for his release, including the many students of the high school where the abducted priest is principal. Read more …
