White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany Tests Positive for COVID-19

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany Tests Positive for COVID-19

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany has tested positive for the coronavirus.

“After testing negative consistently, including every day since Thursday, I tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday morning while experiencing no symptoms,” McEnany posted to Twitter.

“As an essential worker, I have worked diligently to provide needed information to the American People at this time,” she wrote. “With my recent positive test, I will begin the quarantine process and will continue working on behalf of the American People remotely.”

Other sources said press office officials Karoline Leavitt and Chad Gilmartin have also tested positive.

McEnany’s announcement comes just a few days after President Donald Trump tested positive for coronavirus. He was briefly treated at Walter Reed Medical Center before returning to the White House on Monday. First Lady Melania Trump also tested positive.

Health experts believe that members of Trump’s administration may have been exposed to the virus at a ceremony in the Rose Garden at the White House last month when Trump introduced Judge Amy Coney Barrett as his nominee to the Supreme Court.

According to USA Today, few officials wore masks at the event, but McEnany wore one for part of the event.

She had last briefed reporters at the White House Thursday, but on Sunday she held an informal briefing outside. She did not wear a mask at either…

Episcopal panel rules against bishop who banned gay marriage

The Title IV hearing for Episcopal Diocese of Albany Bishop William Love, held via Zoom conference on Friday, June 12, 2020. | Screengrab: Facebook/TItle IV Hearing Panel

A disciplinary panel of The Episcopal Church has ruled that a bishop who refused to allow the blessing of same-sex marriages in his diocese violated canon law.

Bishop William Love of the Episcopal Diocese of Albany was punished last year with a restriction on his ministerial duties after he refused to allow same-sex marriages in his diocese.

Love had refused to allow for the enforcement of Resolution B012, a measure passed in 2018 requiring that all Episcopal dioceses allow for the blessing of same-sex unions.

A Title IV Hearing Panel, which focuses on issues of ecclesiastical discipline when a clergy is accused of misconduct, released a unanimous opinion last Friday finding Love guilty.

“Love’s actions in issuing a Pastoral Direction to his clergy that they refrain from performing same-sex marriages violated the Discipline and Worship of the Church as Bishop Love promised in his ordinal vows. His actions, therefore, constitute a breach of Canon IV.3.2(a),” ruled the panel.

The panel added that Resolution B012…

Virginia Pregnancy Center, Churches, Private Schools Sue State over New LGBT Employment Rights Law

Virginia Pregnancy Center, Churches, Private Schools Sue State over New LGBT Employment Rights Law

A pregnancy center, a group of churches and private schools in Virginia are suing the state over a law that says employers cannot discriminate on hiring based on gender identity and sexual orientation.

According to The Christian Post, Calvary Road Baptist Church of Fairfax County and its school, Community Fellowship Church of Staunton and its school, Community Christian Academy of Charlottesville, and Care Net of Loudon County filed the suit last week.

The Virginia Values Act, also called Senate Bill 868, was passed in April and took effect in July after being signed by Gov. Ralph Northam.

The Alliance Defending Freedom, a conservative law firm, is representing the group in the lawsuit.

The complaint says that employers would be forced to “hire employees who do not share and follow their beliefs on biblical marriage, sexuality, and gender,” “prohibit the Ministries from terminating employees who oppose their missions and convictions,” and “make the Ministries use their facilities in a way that contradicts biblical teachings on sexuality, marriage, and gender.”

“SB 868 puts the Ministries in an impossible position: they must either abandon the religious convictions they were founded upon, or be ready to face investigations, an onerous administrative process, fines up to $100,000 for each violation, unlimited compensatory and punitive damages and…

Entire Bible translated into 700 languages

Unsplash/Aaron Burden

The Bible has been translated in its entirety into more than 700 different languages, meaning that over 5.7 billion people now have both the Old and New Testaments in their native tongue.

According to Wycliffe Bible Translations, the milestone was reached in recent weeks. The 700 total involves complete Bibles with all 66 books translated.

James Poole, executive director of Wycliffe Bible Translators, said the milestone “represents the tremendous work that Bible translators are doing across the world.”

“Every time we hear of the Bible being translated into another language, we know that means that for the first time the people in that language group can fully access the complete picture of God’s story,” Poole said. “It’s good to take a step back and realize what this 700th Bible means: 5.7 billion people who speak 700 languages now have the Bible in the language that speaks to them best. That is a remarkable figure and continues to grow.”

Wycliffe said it’s “impossible” to know which one was the 700th because there were “several launches of physical Bibles” and “several being made available online and via apps, all at about the same…

Christian Adoption Agency Beats N.Y. in Court: State Can’t Close it over Same-Sex Policy

Christian Adoption Agency Beats N.Y. in Court: State Can’t Close it over Same-Sex Policy

A U.S. federal judge handed a Christian adoption agency a major victory Monday when it blocked the state of New York from closing the agency over its policy on same-sex adoption.

At issue is a policy by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) that requires adoption agencies to place children in opposite-sex and same-sex homes.

OCFS threatened to close a faith-based adoption ministry, New Hope Family Services, but the agency sued in federal court, claiming violations of its constitutionally protected rights of religious liberty and free speech.

On Monday, District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino agreed with the agency and issued an injunction against the state, saying the agency likely will succeed in its suit.

“The Court finds that the totality of the evidence weighs in favor of a finding of hostility” toward religion, she wrote.

Enforcing the state policy, she ruled, “runs contrary to the state’s interest in maximizing the number of families available for adoption.”

D’Agostino, who was nominated by President Obama, previously ruled against the agency in 2019, but the agency appealed, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals reversed her decision, sending it back to D’Agostino. She noted in Monday’s decision she had “specific instructions” she was “bound to follow.”

New Hope’s policy prohibits the placement of children in same-sex homes…

Thom Rainer says he hopes to resolve LifeWay lawsuit Tuesday

LifeWay Christian Resources President Thom S. Former president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s LifeWay Christian Resources, Thom Rainer, said he hopes to resolve a lawsuit for allegedly breaching his severance agreement with the denomination’s publishing arm by Tuesday, and has already started returning more than $1 million in severance pay.

“I am hopeful for a final resolution of the lawsuit by the end of the day. I did begin returning my severance several months ago at the request of LifeWay’s CEO,” Rainer said in a statement to The Christian Post on Tuesday in response to questions about a report that he was paid in excess of $1 million as part of the terms of the disputed severance agreement.

Rainer noted on Twitter Sunday that: “LifeWay has put forth six stipulations to end the lawsuit. For the sake of the gospel, I plan to accept all of those…

Son of Olympic Gold Medalists finds his own lane: Seeking peace through God’s perspective

Track and field athlete Cameron Burrell is seen training at the University of Houston in Houston, Texas, USA on 19 November, 2019. // Long Nguyen / Red Bull Content Pool via AP Images

Cameron Burrell won the NCAA championship at 100 meters in 2018. As Matthew Futterman writes, “His best time is 9.93, making him one of the fastest sprinters in the world.”

That’s an impressive accomplishment, and one of which both he and his family are proud.

But when your father, Leroy, is the former world record holder in the 100 meters and an Olympic gold medalist, and your mother, Michelle, was part of the gold medal-winning sprint relay team in the 1992 Olympics, and your godfather, Carl Lewis, is one of the most prolific sprinters in history, it can be understandably hard to feel like your accomplishments measure up.

Cameron can take some solace, though, in knowing that this is the life he chose rather than one that was forced on him.

As Futterman writes, “The Burrells never advertised their athletic accomplishments to their three children. They don’t have a trophy case in their living room in suburban Houston. Their gold medals were stored in a safe deposit box.” It wasn’t until the kids stumbled across some old Team U.S.A. uniforms in the garage that they even knew about their parents’ exploits.

But while he played a variety of sports growing up, sprinting ended up feeling like his calling.

As Leroy described, Cameron “could have done anything he wanted, and he chose to run.” So when he decided to attend the University of Houston, where Cameron’s father and Lewis were both coaches, it set his path on a clear trajectory to the Olympics.

And while Covid pushed those plans back a year, trying to add his name to the family legacy is still Cameron’s dream. What’s perhaps most important, though, is that he’s embraced the dream as his own.

How do you view your life?

It can be simultaneously reassuring and…

Local Church Raises $12,000 for Pregnant Waffle House Waitress

Local Church Raises $12,000 for Pregnant Waffle House Waitress

Bishop Eusebio Phelps, the pastor of New Faith Christian Church in the Atlanta suburb of Stockbridge, had a conversation with a waitress in a local Waffle House when he phoned in to place an order. Hannah Hill, the waitress who filled out his order, was elated when she received a $40 tip from the bishop. However, that number would increase to over $12,000 after Phellps began a Facebook campaign to raise just $1,000 for her, The Christian Post reports.

The Pastor was inspired to do this after hearing Hill, who was pregnant at the time, share that she wanted to name her future son Samuel. Phelps lost his son named Samuel about 7 years ago and, after speaking to his wife, decided to raise funds for the waitress.

The event was coming on the anniversary of their son passing away, he stated in an interview with 11 Alive.

Phelps had originally given her $40, the contents of his pocket, so that she could buy something nice for the baby, but after talking to his wife, the pair decided they wanted to try to give her more. So, with the goal of raising $1,000 for Hill in mind, Phelps turned to Facebook to ask his friends to donate if they could. Overnight, Phelps and his friends were able to raise over $6,500.

Phelps then went to the Waffle House to give her a check for the money, but it was her day off. Meanwhile, more people were donating to Hill and others, following Phelps’ journey to give Hill the…

Christian and Missionary Alliance Launches Second Investigation into Ravi Zacharias

Christian and Missionary Alliance Launches Second Investigation into Ravi Zacharias

The Christian and Missionary Alliance has reportedly opened a second investigation into famed Christian Apologist Ravi Zacharias.

As Christian Headlines previously reported, Zacharias International Ministries first launched and investigation into the late preacher after multiple employees at two Atlanta-area day spas that Zacharias co-owned and frequented, accused him of sexual assault and misconduct. The claims allege Zacharias would ask massage therapists for “more than massages” and masturbate or touch the female massage therapists inappropriately.

According to Christianity Today, the Christian and Missionary Alliance’s Vice President Terry Smith stated that while it is unusual to investigate a suspected perpetrator who has since died, it is also necessary since he was an employee at the company and everyone must remain “fully accountable.” The Christian and Missionary Alliance is investigating the claims due to a contractual and theological obligation to their mission and moral standards.

According to their disciplinary procedure on page 173, an inquiry of every allegation must be made, along with interviews of the victims and the perpetrator of the act. After this step, if warranted, there must be an investigation into the occasion. Finally, action must be taken if the charge is substantiated.

According to Smith, it will be more difficult to complete this…

Megachurch Pastor John Hagee, 80, Tests Positive for COVID-19

Megachurch Pastor John Hagee, 80, Tests Positive for COVID-19

John Hagee, the 80-year-old author and senior pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, was diagnosed with COVID-19 last Friday.

CBN News reports that his son, Pastor Matt Hagee, made the announcement concerning his father’s diagnosis during a livestreamed service on Sunday.

Hagee explained that the doctors identified the virus early and that his father is “feeling well enough to be frustrated with everybody in a white coat and a stethoscope.”

“He wanted me to tell you that he covets your prayers and that he asks you to pray for him daily, not only that he make a speedy recovery but that he looks forward to seeing you again at Cornerstone very soon,” Hagee added.

He proceeded to ask the congregation to pray for anyone else who had contracted the virus.

“As it is a reality in our lives, we also have a promise that we serve a God who is a Healer,” Hagee asserted.

According to The Christian Post, John and Matt, alongside Cornerstone Christian Schools, successfully filed a lawsuitin July against the local government’s restriction on in-person classes, in which the Hagees wanted to resume in August.

“Plaintiffs hold a sincere religious belief and seek to educate, and have their children educated, through the in-person instruction of Plaintiffs’ religious, educational institution to further those sincere beliefs,” the lawsuit contended.

John Hagee has been an avid proponent of…
