Christians are being Killed in Nigeria, Morning Star News reports

JOSNigeria, November 30, 2020 (Morning Star News) – Fulani herdsmen attacks on predominantly Christian communities in Kaduna state on Saturday night and Sunday morning (Nov. 28-29) killed seven Christians, two days after a pastor was slain in southwestern Nigeria, sources said.

The “Fulani terrorists” in Kaduna state also kidnapped two children and wounded four people in the attacks on Ungwar Bido and Ungwar-Pah, near Jagindi in Jema’a County, area resident Samuel Auta told Morning Star News.

He and a Kaduna state official were unable to obtain the ages of the children, while the official identified only six of those killed: Silas Maman, Malaki Tabat, Geofree Andrew, Anna Ahmadu, Sunday Tagwai and Fidelis Musa, all of Ungwar Bido village. Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna state commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, in a press statement identified the two the missing children as Rebecca Andrew and Clement Andrew and the four wounded Adamu Mangai, Matta Silas, Yaro Musa and Yaro Andrew.

The assailants also burned down four houses, he said.

“The houses of Adamu Mangai, Gideon Nuhu, Andrew Adamu and Alphonsus Michael were razed down by the attackers,” Aruwan said. “The state government condemns these attacks and the loss of lives and has directed security agencies to investigate and arrest all persons involved in the criminal actions.”

Earlier this month, suspected Fulani in Kaduna state’s Zangon Kataf County killed Christian community leader Haruna Kuye and his son, Destiny Kuye, in Gidan Zaki village, according to Luka Binniyat, spokesman of the Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU).

“Both father and son were sleeping in their home in Gidan Zaki village when they were brutally shot dead” on Nov. 17, he said in a statement to Morning Star News. “The dastardly murder of the district head of Mazaki in Atyap Chiefdom, Zangon Kataf, and his teenage son stands totally condemned. It was a well-planned murder by evil men who sneaked into the village and headed for his home and unleashed terror. The heartless killers also attacked his wife and daughter, but they survived with injuries.” Read more …

Christian Bookstore forced to Close for Violating Lockdown Orders in UK

Police arrested two men at a Christian bookstore in England for being inside the business despite orders that businesses stay closed until December.

Officers arrested the men on Nov. 14 outside the Mustard Seed bookshop and tearoom in Gedling, Nottinghamshire, after the men refused to give their names and addresses to receive fines of $267 (£200) for being inside the business.

Christian Post reported that officers went to the bookstore following reports that “40 to 50 people” had gathered inside, according to the BBC.

Following the incident, Nottinghamshire Police served a closure order to the bookshop and tearoom under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime, and Policing Act, according to the Gedling Eye. The bookshop, authorities said, had remained open and people were inside in violation of the prohibition that only allowed it to operate as a takeaway. Read more …

Two Christian boys and their Pastor Killed in Islamist Attacks in Uganda

NairobiKenya, November 26, 2020 (Morning Star News) – the Muslim relatives of a former sheikh in eastern Uganda who refused to renounce Christ killed his 6-year-old son on Monday (Nov. 23), two days after Islamists in the western part of the country killed a pastor and his 12-year-old son, sources said. Following a two-hour meeting with Muslim relatives in Buseta Sub-County’s Kameme village, Kibuku District, former sheikh (Islamic teacher) Emmanuel Hamuzah refused their demand to renounce Christ, the 38-year-old convert told Morning Star News. Shortly afterward his brothers, sisters and paternal uncle attacked him outside his house, he said.

His 6-year-old son, Ibrahim Mohammad, was outside with him when the five relatives approached at about 6:30 p.m., with one saying, “You should renounce this Christian faith, which is a disgrace to our family,” Hamuzah said.

“I refused to yield to their demand, and they started fighting me with kicks and blows,” Hamuzah told Morning Star News. “I tried to defend myself while the other attackers were stepping on my child’s neck, suffocating him.”

The assailants fled when neighbors rushed toward the commotion, and his son died before he could obtain medical help, he said. The family has not reported the assault to police out of fear of further violence by the assailants.

Hamuzah, who with his wife has three other children ages 10, 8 and 4, put his faith in Christ two years ago.

PASTOR AND SON SLAIN

Near Uganda’s western-most point, pastor Wilson Niwamanya was on his way home to Kabale with his 12-year-old son after delivering Christian literature along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo when radical Muslims stopped them near Kisoro on Saturday evening (Nov. 21), sources said.

The four Muslim extremists stopped Pastor Niwamanya and his son, Simon Peter Bizimaana (local middle children take the names of grandparents rather than their parents’ names), as they rode on motorcyels. The pastor’s son was on a motorcyle driven by a 15-year old Christian worker whose name is withheld for security reasons.
The worker said the assailants had blunt objects and a horn-hilted dagger known as a Somali sword. Read more …

What Pro-Lifers Should Know about the Pfizer, Moderna and Oxford COVID-19 Vaccines

Pharmaceutical companies in recent days announced promising trial results of three separate vaccines, boosting hopes that the worldwide pandemic could be months away from an end.

Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna/National Institutes of Health, and Astrazeneca/University of Oxford each released results from their phase 3 trials showing the vaccines to be at least 90 percent effective in preventing Covid-19.

But from a pro-life perspective, the three vaccines were not created equal.

The pro-life Charlotte Lozier Institute lists the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines as “ethically uncontroversial,” yet it lists the Astrazeneca/Oxford vaccine as “unethical” because of its use of a fetal cell line, derived from an abortion, in the design, development and production of the vaccine. The Lozier Institute is the research and education institute of the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List. Read more …

Bethel Church Senior Pastors Eric and Candace Johnson Resign

Senior Pastors Eric and Candace Johnson resigned from Bethel Church in Redding, California after 18 years of ministry.

“We are family, and we will always be a part of this movement. While this decision may feel odd and unexpected, there is a deep sense of peace. We are anchored in hope, and believe that the best is yet to come, both for us and for the future of Bethel,” the couple said in a statement.

According to CBN News, they revealed there was no immoral actions or pressure to resign, the couple simply wanted to open a new chapter in life.

Eric’s father, Bill Johnson, who is also Bethel’s senior leader, said he agrees with the decision to move on.

“We know this was not an easy decision for Eric and Candace to make. And yet, know that as a Senior Leadership Team, we fully support them in their decision to resign as the Senior Pastors of Bethel Church here in Redding. And while there is sadness in this transition, we remain expectant and full of hope for this next season: for them and for us,” Bill said in a statement.

In a 7-minute Instagram video, Eric and Candace both explained their many reasons and also explained that it was not an easy decision.

“This is a lot to unpack and it’s been quite a process for us if you can imagine. One thing that we do recognize – it feels like the Lord’s involved in it. This is the hardest decision we’ve ever had to make in our life and yet there’s an odd peace in it,” they said in the video. Read more …
