Christian Post Report – “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star Sarah Michelle Gellar has signed on as part of the voice cast of Disney XD and Lucas Films’ “Star Wars Rebels” Season 2, joining her husband, Freddie Prinze, Jr.

“The Crazy Ones” actress, Sarah Michelle Gellar has joined her husband, actor Freddie Prinze, Jr. as one of the voices behind “Star Wars Rebels,” a Lucas Film production on Disney XD for its upcoming second season.

The first season finale for the 3D CGI animated sci-fi series wound to a close on Monday, with the premiere for Season 2 still to be revealed.

Prinze Jr. plays Padawan Kanan Jarrus in the series, a surviving human Jedi from Order 66 and the crew leader of the Ghost starship. Gellar’s role, which is reported to be a recurring character in the show, is still to be announced.

“We’re thrilled to have Sarah Michelle Gellar on board for season two,” show producer Dave Filoni said to Slashfilm. “She is a true ‘Star Wars Rebels’ fan and her passion undoubtedly comes through in the voice recording sessions.”

Gellar also joins the rest of the voice cast, including “Selma” star, David Oyelowo, Tiya Sircar, Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, and Taylor Gray.

She has previous voice work on her resume, including “Robot Chicken,” “American Dad!” and “The Simpsons.”

Star Wars Rebels

Inspired by the original “Star Wars” saga in the 70’s, “Star Wars Rebels” is set during five years before the events in “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope” during the period the Galactic Empire slowly secures its hold on the galaxy. As Imperial forces hunt down and exterminate the remaining Jedi Knights, a fledgling rebellion has been formed.

The show’s first season premiered in August 2014, and has since amassed 49 million viewers. Its story arc continues when Season 2 returns to Disney XD.
