Christian Post Report – The Kansas Jayhawks meet New Mexico St. Aggies meet at CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska in the second round of the NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament. The game will take place on March 20, 2015 and tip-off is at 12:15 p.m. ET.
Securing the second seed, Kansas finished top of the Big 12, going 26-8 while winning the most games in the conference with a 13-5 record.
The Jayhawks had a good season, at one time winning eight straight matches following a loss to the Kentucky Wildcats. In that streak they beat teams like the Michigan St. Spartans and Utah Utes. However, heading to their second round match, they lost to 13th-seeded Iowa State Cyclones 70-66.
In that loss, Wayne Selden Jr. scored a game high 25 points while shooting 8-of-12 from the field. He also pulled down four rebounds and dished out four assists. However, the team only shot 38 percent from the field, and had 13 turnovers in the contest.
Perry Ellis leads the team in points per game with 13.8, while Frank Mason III is not far behind with 12.3.
Ellis also leads in rebounding with seven every contest.
Meanwhile, the Aggies topped the WAC with a 23-10 record, and even more impressive is going 13-1 in their conference.
They are currently on a 13-game win streak, with their most recent win against the Seattle Redhawks.
Remi Barry and Tshilidzi Nephawe led the team with 21 and 18 points, respectively. They were the only two players who scred in double digits while Nephawe completed a double double by adding 10 reboudns to his stats.
The Aggies were excellent on the floor, converting on 53 percent of their shots from the field, while also hitting more than half of their shots from beyond the arc. They also held the Redhawks to 40 percent shooting from the field as they cruised to the WAC title.
