Christian Post Report – Paramount Pictures has recently released another look at “Terminator: Genisys” with a teaser trailer featuring J.K. Simmons.

The upcoming retcon sequel to the “Terminator” series, “Terminator: Genisys” gave viewers a preview of its storyline with a one-minute trailer focusing on the Oscar-winning actor.

Scheduled to premiere in theaters July 1 this year, the sci-fi action film continues the story of Resistance leader, John Connor, played by “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” actor Jason Clark, as he continues his struggle in the human revolt against Skynet machines that rules a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles.

J.K. Simmons, who won an Oscar for his sadistic drum mentor role in last year’s “Whiplash,” plays an old and washed-up detective who teams up with Kyle Reese, played by Australian “Insurgent” actor, Jai Courtney, and Connor’s mother, Sarah, who is played by “Game of Thrones” star, Emilia Clarke.

Simmons, whose character Detective O’Brien is reportedly providing some comic relief in a grim and gritty storyline, struggles to understand the complicated set of circumstances that brought Kyle Reese from the future to save Sarah Connor and the world from Skynet.

Original Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger, will reprise his role as The Guardian, a T-800 model from the first film and Sarah Connor’s protector. Together with Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor, they attempt to halt an impending nuclear holocaust that self-aware A.I. computer program that Skynet plans to unleash.

Schwarzenegger will be battling a T-1000 played by “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” actor Lee Byung-hun and another T-800 played by a CGI rendering of younger Schwarzenegger.

Clarke will be taking on a more action packed role reminiscent of Linda Hamilton in the 1990 sequel “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.”

“Terminator: Genisys” will be produced by David Ellison and Dana Goldberg and directed by Alan Taylor.
