Detroit have lost their last two games and four of their last five. They did get a point in their latest match against the Ottawa Senators.

Gustav Nyquist opened the scoring in the second period with a snap shot but it was ultimately equalized by Clarke MacArthur with less than five minutes remaining in the game. Mark Stone then converted the winning shootout goal to hand the Senators the win.

Meanwhile, momentum is with the Bruins as they have won three straight games. They have beaten the New York Rangers, Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers as they try to chase the playoff spots in the East.

Most impressive against the Rangers, Boston got to an early lead thanks to three goals in the first period from Milan Lucic and Chris Soderberg. Reilly Smith then made it 4-0 in the second period before the game eventually ended 4-2.

The teams have played three times this season so far, with Boston dominating and winning all of them.

In their first meeting at the Joe Louis Arena, Boston won 3-2 on penalties. David Krejci opened the scoring in the sixth minute of the game only to be levelled by Tomas Tatar only less than three minutes after.

Smith gave the Bruins the lead again in the second period but Nyquist found the leveller in the third to send it to extra time.
