With the playoff race being decided down the wire, the New Orleans Pelicans need a big win against the Phoenix Suns when they meet at the Smoothie King Center. The match is on April 10, 2015 at 8 p.m. ET.
New Orleans are currently holding on to the eighth spot in the Western Conference as they are trying to hold off the Oklahoma City Thunder who are ninth.
Both teams are deadlocked with 42-36 records but the Pelicans hold the tie-break advantage over the Thunder.
Following a crushing loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, the Pelicans need to rebound with a win over the struggling Suns.
New Orleans secured the eighth spot with a big win over the West’s best team the Golden State Warriors.
In the 103-100 victory, Anthony Davis went for 29 points and 10 rebounds as the Pelicans overturned a double-digit deficit at the half to lead by one after three quarters. The victory was made sweeter as the Thunder lost big to the San Antonio Spurs which resulted in New Orleans’ entry to the playoff picture.
Meanwhile, the Suns have dropped their last two games and have lost a total of seven of their last eight. At one point, they were included in the discussion for the Western Conference playoff spot but poor form has resulted in their exclusion from the list.
Their last performance was a 107-104 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
Phoenix had only eight players in rotation and the offense was led by Gerald Green who had 30 points. He also went 50 percent from beyond the arc, sinking five of his 10 attempts beyond the arc. Marcus Morris had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds but Phoenix fell short against Dallas.
They were also out-rebounded 47-37 and committed 12 turnovers in the game.
