Christian Post Report – As Google Nexus 5 owners are giving feedback that they are already receiving the latest Android 5.1 update for Lollipop, there is no word yet on when other Nexus devices will receive the much-awaited update that is said to fix numerous bugs and issues that Lollipop users earlier complained about.

Google announced the Android 5.1 update in March with the company saying that it will only be initially available to selected units. While it was expected that Google will prioritize its own Nexus devices, the time frame for the roll out of the updates was not clear early on.

A report in Venture Capital Post also confirmed that the first update received by selected users on Nexus 5 last month was different from what Nexus 5 owners are receiving now. The current version is said to bring SIM card improvements, which was not present in the first build.

Google also confirmed early on that the update will be rolled out to Nexus 6 owners as well. The time frame and the type of update has not been confirmed. It will be up to Nexus 6 owners to confirm when they have started receiving the update.

It was also reported that Nexus 4, 7 and 9 devices are next in the line-up for the updates but again, Google was mum about the time frame.

The Android 5.1 update is reported to bring a lot of improvements in the Lollipop experience. Firstly, it is supposed to address some of the bugs and issues that Android 5.0 Lollipop users have raised. The update is said to bring: improvements in battery life; increased protection and security through a new locking system that prevents the device from being used when stolen or lost; ability to place high definition voice calls between devices running the new OS, and SIM card improvements.

Update version 5.1.1 however is said to additionally address the memory leak problem encountered by earlier Lollipop users.
