Ed Young Jr.’s Fellowship Church held its fourth annual “Good Friday in the Park” celebration in Dallas, Texas, ahead of the pastor’s Easter message, which will focus on doubt, and how people can overcome their doubts through faith.
“This year, we’re going to take a unique look at the resurrection through the perspective of doubt. Let’s face it, we all have some doubts. This year, we’re going to take a hard look at what causes those doubts and how we can have faith on the other side of them,” Andy Boyd, spokesman for Fellowship Church, told The Christian Post.
“Easter is a time when people who haven’t been to church give God a shot. It’s a time when most people we know are thinking about the things of God. So every year, we make the entire experience new and fresh and relevant,” he said, speaking about the Good Friday in the Park communitywide celebration the church held yesterday that featured live music, food trucks, and a sermon by Young.
“This is always an amazing opportunity to share the message of Easter with an entire city … in one of the city’s premier gathering spots, Klyde Warren Park. And this weekend, we’re having huge celebrations at all of our locations in North Texas and Florida.”
Past celebrations of the Easter holiday at Fellowship have been known to produce headline grabbing activities, such as the 20Christian Post Report – 14 observance at one campus that attempted a world record-setting chalk drawing of Jesus.
That year, the Grapevine campus of Fellowship created a chalk drawing of Jesus that was about Christian Post Report – 17,00 square feet and required about 6,700 pieces of chalk to complete.
“Easter is always a time of celebration, reflection, and renewal. This giant chalk drawing on our church’s parking lot is just a great way to connect with so many people and to remind us what this week is all about,” said Young in 20Christian Post Report – 14.
When CP asked Boyd what he hopes attendees of the Easter weekend events and services take away, he replied that he wants people to be encouraged “to experience a personal, powerful connection with Jesus.”
“Because we know that without Christ, the rest of life falls flat. We want people to experience that full life he has in store for us,” he added.
“What do we want people to take away this weekend? The Good News of Jesus, a solid knowledge that their eternity is set through a new and vibrant relationship with their Risen Lord.”
