A Christian woman bravely stood up to Islamic State (ISIS) militants and refused to convert to Islam despite the threat of death.
An Iraqi Christian woman who is blind refused to convert to Islam, even after being threatened by ISIS militants.
Christian Today reports that Mariyam Petrayus, from western Mosul, was confronted by ISIS militants who told her she must renounce her Christian faith.
Petrayus boldly told the jihadis that she didn’t want to convert because she didn’t want to become like them.
“Why? What is wrong with me?” the man asked her, to which she responded, “You don’t say your prayers, you kill humans, you earn haram [sinful] earning, and you harass people.”
Petrayus was held in captivity by the jihadis for two years before she was able to escape. She now lives in a refugee camp near Khazer, Iraq.
Petrayus is just one of the estimated 6,000 people forced to flee Mosul after Iraqi government forces launched a major offensive to liberate Iraq’s second largest city from ISIS occupation.
