‘Fixer Upper’ Stars Help Elderly Hurricane Victim Rebuild Her Home

Chip and Joanna Gaines, the stars of the popular HGTV show Fixer Upper recently lent their renovating talents to an elderly woman whose home was damaged by Hurricane Harvey.

Eighty-one-year-old Doris Davis has lived in her Houston home since 1999, but when Hurricane Harvey brought massive flooding to the Houston area earlier this fall, Davis was one of many Houston residents whose home suffered damage.

Thankfully, Davis was rescued by her family. According to Faithwire.com, however, she lost nearly all her belongings to the floods and her home sustained significant damage.

Volunteers were helping Davis rebuild her home, but on Sunday they were joined by home renovation superstars Chip and Joanna Gaines.

“Honestly, our hearts go out, you know, to each and every family that’s been affected by this,” said Chip Gaines.

Davis was excited to see the Fixer Upper couple and warmly embraced them.

Joanna Gaines said that she was eager to get out in the community and help people. The Gaineses also make their home in Texas; specifically in Waco, which is about three hours from Houston.

Chip and Joanna have also been in the news recently after they announced that upcoming Season 5 of Fixer Upper will be the last season because they want to focus on their family and other pursuits.
