The 44-year-old, who is now a Sky Sports host, posted on Twitter on Tuesday: “I have my precious boy to look after.
“I pray to God that, if nothing else, I can do this…”
Gemma Thomas passed away on 25th November 2016, aged 40, just three days after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia, a type of blood cancer.
Since his wife’s death, Simon said he has not managed to spend more than 30 seconds in the couple’s bedroom before “breaking down”.
Simon, who married Gemma in 2005, also praised family friends who have been “beyond amazing” in supporting him.

In a New Year’s Eve Twitter post, he also said: “People have said to me many times over the past few weeks that it can’t get any worse – but it can, it really can.
“I just pray to God that it won’t and that out of the ashes of 2017 we will begin to rise again.”
