The show, called Treasure Champs, has already had one episode and will launch another two series on 6th January 2018. It’s aimed at nursery-aged children and plans to introduce them to “values common to different faiths and cultures such as generosity, empathy and honesty” according to the BBC. The ‘Treasures’ are the different values that the two animated characters explore each episode. In each episode there is a traditional fable or a story from one of the main world religions: Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism.Episodes will include: Loyalty, Sharing, Creativity, Empathy, Democracy and Self-Respect.In a statement from the BBC, Kay Benbow, Controller CBeebies, says: “Championing positive, common values has become increasingly important, both in society and education, and we hope our young viewers will find Treasure Champs to be both informative and inspirational.
“At the heart of the series is the idea that we are different but the same. Jon Hancock continues: “These concepts can often be quite difficult for young children to grasp so we’re aiming to make the shows simple, entertaining and above all fun.”Through songs and children, the show aims to teach children about different beliefs in a fun way.
