Not for one disgruntled resident in Devon, however, who interrupted a village bell ringing competition at St Peter’s Church in Noss Mayo because he was angered by the noise.

The angry resident is alleged to have raged and sworn at the bell-ringers, claiming his driveway was being blocked by one of the competitors.

A source told Plymouth Live: “”He had to be restrained from forcing his way into the tower and dragging the car owner out. He refused to even wait for a few minutes.

“It was a shocking sight. He was shouting and swearing, grown men were thumping each other, children were upset and crying”

Barrie Furzlend, Captain of the Tower at St Peter’s church, confirmed that an incident took place on Saturday, but insisted nobody’s driveway was blocked at any time.

Police are investigating the incident.
