Activist Bevelyn Beatty Explains Why She Defaced a Black Lives Matter Mural in New York


The woman who went viral last month for painting over a Black Lives Matter mural in New York City is addressing her actions as well as her thoughts on the Black Lives Matter organization.

In an interview with CBN News, activist and evangelist Bevelyn Beatty explained what was going through her mind before defacing the mural that was painted in front of Trump Tower.

“I have to paint this mural. I have to cover this mural,” she told CBN News analyst David Brody. “I was so tired of this Black Lives Matter narrative…we’re going to hit it. We’re going to fight and we’re going to stand and God is with me. And that was it.”

Prior to coming to Christ, Beatty went through a rough upbringing, such as growing up on welfare, watching loved ones die and living a life of trouble. Seven years ago, Beatty was arrested on money laundering charges. It was during her time in jail that she would come to Christ after someone shared the Gospel with her.

“When I got out of jail, honey, you couldn’t get me to steal a pack of bubble gum,” she said. “You couldn’t get me to do nothing.”

Following her conversion, Beatty worked for “At the Well Ministries” as an anti-abortion Christian activist. Beatty also spoke against the Black Lives Matter organization as she believes that the group is doing more harm than good to Black people.
