A prominent faith-based film from 2020 has received two nominations in a major mainstream awards ceremony.
I Still Believe, which released in theaters in March, was nominated Oct. 1 in two categories for the People’s Choice Awards: top Drama Movie of 2020 and top Drama Movie Star of 2020 (K.J. Apa).
Winners will be announced Sunday, Nov. 15 on E! (Entertainment television), and fans of the movie can vote for it online.
I Still Believe tells the true love story of Christian singer Jeremy Camp and his first wife, Melissa, who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Camp eventually wrote a song, I Still Believe, about the trial.
The People’s Choice Awards, first held in 1975, honors the best in entertainment as determined by the general public. Although winners were originally determined by a Gallup survey, today they are chosen by online voting.
The film was directed by Jon and Andrew Erwin, who also made I Can Only Imagine, Woodlawn and Mom’s Night Out. It is a record number of nominations for the Erwins, who received one People’s Choice nod for I Can Only Imagine (Best Family Movie of 2018).
