South Korean Churches Use Large-Scale Worship to Reconnect With Young Christians

Churches in South Korea are exploring new approaches to Christian fellowship and youth ministry amid concerns about declining participation among younger generations.

Christianity Today reported on initiatives that emphasise relationships, shared experiences and participation beyond traditional Sunday services. One example is G2A, short for “Go To All,” a 10-hour worship gathering held at KINTEX, a convention centre near Seoul. The event brought together approximately 14,500 young people.

The report also highlighted smaller, relationship-focused approaches, including churches that encourage frequent interaction among members and integrate faith into everyday life.

These initiatives do not prove that the broader decline in church participation has been reversed, but they illustrate how congregations are experimenting with ways to encourage young people to build lasting relationships and sustain their faith.
