The parents of Alfie Evans, the little boy who has a rare neurodegenerative disorder have made a last desperate effort to save their son, but to no avail.
As ChristianHeadlines.com previously reported, Alfie’s parents, Tom Evans and Kate James, have been fighting a losing legal battle to either continue their son’s medical care in the UK or to take him to Italy where he has been welcomed by a Vatican hospital and doctors who are willing to try experimental treatments.
A UK High Court judge already denied Alfie’s parents’ request. On Monday, Alfie was taken off of his ventilator. Amazingly, however, Alfie survived, although even after this miracle, doctors waited hours before putting him back on life support and giving him water and food.
Alfie’s doctors and the UK High Court claim that keeping Alfie on life support is only prolonging his “inhumane” suffering, but his parents believe he is a fighter and that they should be able to try other treatments.
Alfie’s case has drawn the attention both of those who are advocates for the pro-life cause, as well as those who see it as a case of parental rights. People from Italy to Poland to the US and around the world are rallying to save him.
